Parade
Once you leave the quarter of Alfama the world changes. Suddenly you find regular stores, good fellas ( pintas ) hang around...
But the change is not the total one. That exceptional flavor of old days remains. Influance of it is so visible, prevailing. So powerful that even the kids look as if they beloneg to the different era.

PS. Actually I thought that the hand was a sort of symbolic. Decided to leave it as it is.

Hi Jerzy, wonderful portraits, with som many faces and attitudes!
great use of the black and white, perfect focus and POV and funny view!!
thanks, ciao

Excellent, good choice for sepia, the expression of the first girl is very special...
all the stripes give an oldfashioned look.
Nice WE

Joel

> ... even the kids look as if they beloneg to the different era ...<
In specific the one with the white bow in her hair :)
Super picture ... only the 2 guys are annoying me :)

Hi Jerzy,

Excuse me my associations, but when I saw the thumbnail I thought of a Jewish ghetto... you see, sepia, the same striped clothes, and they are all wearing a sign... I think this is an exceptional capture of the old days atmosphere of this Lissabon street. And it´s a relief that it has nothing to do with ghettos..

Alexander

Splendid grup portrait picture..I love this image, and the b&w in sepia tones fits very well here, a sort of old movie...
All the best
Have a nice week end
Isabela

This really seems like 30 years old. There is of course, signs from now a days, but the atmosphere is from 1970. I could be one of those kids...
The expression of the one at right foreground is really funny, as if he was making on purpose for you, but than he should be looking at us. Good work on the sepia. I like it a lot, but I have to say that Ana just passed in here and she's totally for colour versions. She doesn't understand why so many members like this kind of pp treatment.
Have a nice weekend,
Ricardo

This is one is simply fabulous, Jerzy - a very charming, timeless sepia piece with these old fashioned little schoolkids all holding hands in Lisboa's old town.
really superbly framed with an extreme expression on the right!

Witaj Jerzy.

Swietna ta sepia, i te miny dzieciakow.
To jak przeniesienie w czasie.
Kadr tu sie nie liczy.Tu sie liczy klimat.

Pozdrawiam.

hi jerzy
you realized a very good WS to give un other dimension to your photo, the expressions of the children are simply stunning.
superbe

didier

The other thing that makes this seem long ago is the apparently good behaviour of the children as they file through the streets in crocodile formation. Come to England and take the equivalent photo and they would be pulling and thumping each other. (You'd also probably get arrested for taking photos of children)
Good capture; I agree with you about the guiding hand.
Kath

Hi Jerzy,
Only one word ... WONDERFUL.
Return to the past with your sepia composition.
I like the hand which guides the children.
Only the men in the background, reminds to us that we are in 2006 and not in 1900. I like much these uniforms and the ribbons in the hair of the small girls.
Congratulations,
TFS
Corinne

And you Jerzy, where have you been while shooting this marvel?
The kids have incredible abilities to see and hear EVERYTHING! In this case, several pairs of eyes and NONE of them is seeing you..?!
Ghost with the 'camera obscura'.
Total perfection.

Rzeczywiście zdjęcie wyszło jak zabytek sprzed lat. Ciekawa scenka i dość niecodzienne elementy graficzne (stroje). Notka jak zwykle inspirująca. Pozdrawiam.

Hi Jerzy
Surprising this sepia but with all the uniforms it fits well. A well contrasted clear shot of these schoolchildren. Don't know if a small crop from right would avoid the attention on her arm.

Wow.. Very beautiful capture! Beautiful faces of the children. I like it in sepia. There is a feeling of oldness in the composition which I like most
Best regards,
Sayan

Wow, I love this. The kids faces are just amazing, especially these first two on the foreground right. Their holding hands is a real touch of love in your photo. But I really like it. The composition is masterful, with the grown ups on the corner, that helping and guiding hand (thank God you didn't crop it), the balance of the hand. I am with your on the colored b&w choice. It results quite well. Into my favorites.

Another great street shot - I hardly ever saw a child in Lisbon so it's great to see that there are some - lovely expresssions and the 21st century older world charm of the image is a fantastic capture in itself......and the onus of THAT expression!!

best wishes Kev

Jerzy, you have moved into Portuguese shots, and i missed a host of them! this one is timeless, and you also say in your note, and the monochrome sepia justifies it. faces that never fade in time at captured here. very good work indeed. Thanks, arnab

Jerzy,
Another excellent sepia toned shot. I love the line of traditionally dressed shicldren and the way they link there hands drwas you across the shot. I actually like the croppes arm asi it mirrors the boys lost arm and that draws me in.
Cheers
Peter

Hi Jerzy,
Your sepia treatment is wonderful here as the kids do, indeed, look like they belong to a different time. Definition is wonderful too and these stripes eye-catching.
Raluca

So many lovely expressions to look at, beautifully captured. The sepia treatment works very well here. They do look as if they belong to a different era!
Great POV.
