Lisbon Underground.
Its always fun to travel, but its always great to be home again too.
I had a wonderful time in Portugal, and I loved it as much as I thought and hoped I would. Porto was my favorite city, but lets start the posts with my favorite photo I took.
Venturing into the subway stations and underground metro stations, you can find many hidden gems that most people and tourists just don't explore.
This one was taken at the Oriente Metro station, but most people photograph the beautiful and elegant exterior...what people miss is this.
This scene reminds me of an alien invasion, or walking through an alien spaceship, while us humans are in a trance walking around without any purpose, we are lost and in shock. I love the atmosphere and mood.
I used my wide angle lens, and the photo worked best when people walked into the shaded dark areas so their bodies are black silhouettes. I'll add a couple of WS photos for fun.

Hello Craig
Beautiful series of experimental pictures of this underground space of the underground of Lisboa. I think this space is excellent appropriate to be used in the next Starwars movie. Especially if the room is so deserted as in your picture.
Beautiful work

Hello Craig,
It's nice to hear that you enjoyed Portugal. I have to say you start your photo exhibition in an unexpected way, with a picture that doesn't quite make us think of Lisbon. Having expressed my surprise at this photo, which might have been the underground in Singapore or Montevideo for all that I know, I certainly agree it's a good photo. The light, reflections and the slight tones of green along the staircases make it very attractive, but what mainly makes this such a nice shot is of course the three silhouettes that create this atmosphere of people in a space-ship. (They don't look alien enough.)
Best wishes,
Gert

Hello Craig
Welcome back. When I saw this first on fb, I really liked it. Magnificent shot from this metro station. It really looks like a scene from a sience fiction movie. Except from the rays of artificial light and the slight mint green colour it looks like a b&w photo. The people are perfectly placed in the frame. Superb! TFS.

Hello Craig,
I'm afraid I'm going to disappoint you. I do remember the Oriente railway station but not this metro station :(
I do like your picture here.
The three persons are well spread over the wide underground passage and they look like silhouettes in the little illuminated space.
An image with excellent depth and composition.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Craig,
The Lisbon Metro was nice too. Each station has its own unique artwork decorating the platforms. I loved Lisbon but have yet to visit Porto. Good sharpness and superb graphism of contrasting dark & light tones. Tfs!

Hello Craig, this could be a frame from a futuristic film. With the round edged walls of the subway, it is a very unusual design.
The shot works so well, in my opinion, because of the lack of people, we are able to appreciate the space.
I like the figures in silhouette, and that they are either side of the subway, the shot is balanced.
Thanks for sharing, regards Jean.

Bonsoir, cher Craig,
Nous avons vraiment l'impression d'entrer de plain-pied dans la 5ème dimension.
Les bâtiments sont tellement futuristes et la position des personnages donnent l'illusion de visionner un film.
Excellent.
Amitiés.

Hi Craig,
Rounded curves and all grey colours give a strong scifi feeling. You captured the symmetric design perfectly here. I have visited Oriente several times, but don't recall this location. Only three people visible, I guess this not one of the main routes through the station?

Hello Craig,
I sense that you have had a great time and this is a great photograph to start your collection.
I love the panoramic format and the symmetry.
You timed the shot so well that you were able to almost match the figures.
It feels very 'space age'ish, like entering a space ship!
The lighting adds so much to the mood.
Have a great day,
Bev :-)

Hello Craig,
Wow, what a great and futuristic view of this underground station. I love the symmetry of the view, only broken by the three silhouettes of the people. Great photo, I really like it!

Hi Craig
Superbh picture with the architecture in the large landscape size and inhabited by 3 black human silhouettes giving life to this deserted area. It's almost a B&W shot, but the little yellow light reflection adds a flash of color

Bonjour Craig,
J'avais été très impressionné par cette photo sur Facebook cette semaine. On dirait une scène de film où des humains se dirigent vers une soucoupe volante dans une sorte d'aura mystérieuse.

One alien leaving the spaceship, another returns having finished his mission. Or am I reading too many SF-novels? It's that kind of image. Powerful stuff, Craig! Congratulations.

Hello Craig,
I think you were entirely right to present this scene with the symmetry imbued to it by the architect. The pedestrians add a touch of humanity and accentuate the symmetry.
Porto was indeed beautiful when we visited it. I remember well the iconic bookstore featuring one of the Harry Potter films. There is a coffee shop next door where J. K. Rowling used to sit and write her books.
Warm regards,

Hello Craig,
Wow! Your first photo from Portugal is stunning. I really like it. It's so futuristic, and stylish, and well-executed. I like the wide angle and the silhouettes of those three people. The two versions in the WS are also spectacular. It looks like you didn't land in Portugal...you landed on Mars! :-)

Modern architecture and outside light had created this marvelous sight, Craig.
People gave scale and evidently measured depth by their position in the tunnel, Craig.
Superbly executed this rather difficult photo-task.
Waiting to see more of Portugal, good night from Israel.

Hi Craig!
I was there back in 2004 and took a similar photograph (but still using a simple digital camera... no good quality).
Truly interesting details!
Very attractive picture!
TFS - congrats,
