Hi dear TE friends

Place : Sortelha, it is a Historical Village of Portugal

Region: Municipality-Sabugal / Parish-Sortelha (zone center of Portugal)
With a total area of 43,27 km² and a total population of 579 inhabitants.

These two aged ladies are a portrait of Sortelha Village – Historic Place in Portugal.
Their faces don’t lie; they give us an image of a whole hard work life. However, they always offer us a great smile. They use some free time doing “cestaria” – handy crafted straw baskets -, and with it they earn some money. They usually stand at the entrance of the old village walls. People, who visit Sortelha, certainly have seen them there. When the tourism office is closed, you man ask them all you need to know, for sure, you’ll be well informed.

Hi Filipe,
Your capture of these two old ladies is superb. Yes, they do look like they have had a hard life but maybe enjoyable too. The quality of your image is grand and the details in their faces can be seen clearly. Nice one.

I am glad your shot your first daily life shot, it is very well accomplished. I would prefer to see the lady's whole shoe, but the scene is captured so well that I can live without it.

Certamente que a velhota estava a explicar aonde é a casa dela!!! E a outra estaria mais a pensar no que estavas a fazer. Muito bonita imagem, cheia de vida e de cor. O PDV podia ter sido melhor mas todos nós sabemos o difícil que é fotografar na rua. Por vezes não é possível fazer-se melhor.

Ola Filipe,
Para inicio nos retratos de rua penso que te siaste muito bem capturando bem as emoções transmitidas pelas suas faces assim como os seus gestos. Gosto especialmente da 'velhinha' do lado esquerdo, a cara dela é um 'must'.
Gosto ainda dos apetrechos em frente delas assim como do contraste das roupas delas com esta paredes de pedra.

Nice catch Filipe, full of detail and sharpness. The exposure is just right and you get detail even in the black clothes...

Nice portrait of these two old ladies, in the old fashioned black cloths worn in portugal (but also by old ladies in man other places...). A lively posture and an excellent sharpness.

Esta foto está muito expressiva. Acho que mostra muito bem o que pretendias.

Possivelmente é mais interessante perguntar informações às senhoras do que no turismo.
Nunca visitei esta aldeia, mas pelo que tenho visto em fotos parece-me que estou em grande falha.

Olá Filipe, esta está muita boa. Fotografar pessoas é um desafio mas o resultado pode ser muito satisfatório e dá para ver isso aqui. As velhotas estão apanhadas num bom momento e nem notaram a tua presença. Gosto muito das pernas estendidas desta à direita e o contraste com aquelas texturas de granito está excelente. Grande foto.

Not bad for first attempt. In fact, very good. You have caught good expressions on the women's faces, and I like the pointing finger. If you moved the shooting angle down a bit, you would lose unnecesary wall space at top and get in the right woman's heel. Just a quibble.

Há uma reacção perante o fotógrafo mas que não é diferente da que existe na gente de aldeia quando um citadino aparece. São mundos diferentes, sobretudo para pessoas da idade das fotografadas. Eu diria que é a reacção natural.
Já pensaste em fazer um "crop" das mãos e da cestinha da velhota da direita (uma espécie de grande plano)? As mãos dizem muito, traduzem o trabalho que se faz e a idade que se tem.

Custa a crer que é a tua estreia neste tipo de foto, pois está excelente, não só por teres apanhado muito bem as senhoras, mas porque está bem composta, o que geralmente é complicado com estes retratos de rua. A nitidez é fabulosa!
