Incredible Villages
| [Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe |
This photo was taken from the beautiful village of Currais, situated just before the village of Pondras at the Venda Nova Reservoir, which is formed by the waters of the river Rabagão, tributary of the river Cávado. We are at the North of Portugal, being this particular place situated at the former Minho Region. You can see an old maize or corn chamber still in use. We see them a lot around here, which are used to keep the maze safe from hungry rodents and to keep it as dry as possible in a region known by its cold and damp winters. It seems that the oldest representation of a maize chamber dates from the XII century. Below, the Venda Nova Reservoir, surrounded by an amazing landscape. This village has views and corners you cannot believe, including a 2000-year-old roman milestone, used as a porch pier. LOL!
