Photographer’s Note
This shelter is located near the top of Pico do Areeiro (from where the photo was captured).
The place suits well the purpose for which was made, providing a place for some rest to the hikers trying to get to the top of the mountain.
It has a toilet, some food and water and a barbecue! It also has some rooms probably for giving temporary protection from bad weather or danger to the people that may be lost or caught by theweather at the top.
The nearest house i saw was 3km downhill in Achada do Teixeira and the way can be made only on foot.
After passing the house there are still 200mt until the top of Pico do Areeiro and this was for me the most difficult ones probably due to the lack of oxygen in the air and the accumulated tiredness.

Excelente foto.
um abraço,
ricardo
