Photographer’s Note

Tre Transfogarans Road was built by the Romanian dictator Caucescu to enable his tanks to get quickly to the other side of the mountains. It reaches about 2100 meters at its highest point.

The construction of the road, which is closed in winter, cost the lives of more than 30 people.
