Photographer’s Note

Last in a short series of pictures taken in the tiny republic of San Marino. They were captured on the way to a very enjoyable holiday in Umbria, Italy in July 2002.

Here, a young sketch artist sheltering from the hot sun passes away the time reading whilst waiting for the next client.

Some trivia from Wikipedea about the cuisine of San Marino:

The cuisine of San Marino is very similar to Italian, especially that of the adjoining Emilia-Romagna and Marche regions. It does, however, have a number of its own unique dishes and products. The best known is probably the Torta Tre Monti ("Cake of the Three Mountains/Towers"), a chocolate layer cake depicting The Three Towers of San Marino. The country also has a small wine industry.
