Photographer’s Note

Uniforms play an important role in many countries, very often they are associated to the prestige of a function, in San Marino it's also true and the uniforms of the guards of the Palazzo Pubblico are well above the european average, a chance for the photographers passing by to capture a glimpse of this small republic.

Bonsoir Jean Yves,

Un très beau costume, assez sobre dans la tunique mais un chapeau de toute beauté.
Les couleurs et les détails sont superbe. Cadrage adapté a cette posture.

ça me rappelle un WS de bibi qui avait déplacé le pompon rouge au bout du nez de l'homme,et ça me fait encore rire!Sinon,ton portrait est bien fait,même si je trouve le modèle un peu rigide,et qu'il mériterait bien qu'on lui fasse le même sort!Les couleus sont belles et le cadrage impeccable!

Hola Jean Yves.
Superb portrait of the guard with a spectacular uniform, very good colors contrast, sharpness is perfect same as your wonderful composition. The POV capturing a lateral view of the guard was a great idea. Good use of a vertical format and also I like your frame. There are two yellow spots in your DOF that maybe could be removed although I know you don't like to remove anything from your shots.

Une photographie très formelle avec malheureusement un léger flou sur le visage.
Les couleurs sont un peu tristes, comme la mine du protagoniste. Heureusement, ces rubans blanc et rouge apporte ce qu'il faut à l'image pour attirer le regard.

Ah le prestige de l'uniforme ! personnellement je n'avais rien constaté lorsque je le portais. Mais là il faut dire que celui ci n'est pas très courant. Belle image de San Marin

Ou l'art du frou-frou martial ! Pas aussi achevé que le font les Grecs mais seyant tout plein quand même ! Quand je pense que je ne rentre plus dans mon costume de chasseur alpin , ça me fait quelque chose ...

Hello Jean-Yves,

I look for a long period portraits certainly people with uniform.
Specially for take of portrait, I bought a 80mm lens 1.8 of Canon, this is a wonderful result.
I find these photograph very nice, soft and attractive.

Isn't his country so small that if you took all the uniforms of its soldiers and spread them out, they would cover from border to border? :-)

Regardless of where he's from, it's a good portrait, very colorful, and portrays his attention to duty. I also like the way the bg is present just enough to keep it from being overly negative space without distracting from the main object.

Beau rendu pour ce portrait qui se détache superbement sur cet arrière plan. J'ai l'impression que la mise au point n'a pas été faite tout à fait sur le visage et que tu as peut-être ouvert un poil trop, non?

very good photo! The background looks a bit dark, though, as compared to the man's hat and hair, but on the whole I like the colours and contrast very much. The photo has a little of a postcard style :)
I also like your choice of 3/4 portrait. I myself used to like drawing 3/4 portraits ;)
