San Marino is the country with the longest continuous history of democracy.
Obviously the geography has helped to keep independence of this small republic with just 61 km2 around the Mt. Titano.
Looking down from the mountain any direction you see Italy. |

an old photo you were right to upload as it is spectacular for its PoV showing how the fortifications are built on the very edge of the cliff, good composition too adding open space to complement these architectural elements.
