Photographer’s Note

A small chapel within the massive walls of the Cesta castle in San Marino, showing that medieval people despite being very religious, preferred to rely on thick walls and impressive fortifications rather than prayers when it came to guarantee their safety.

Hello Jean-Yves,
A find composition admirably suited to the vertical format. Good framing from the wall and balustrade and pleasing juxtaposition between chapel and tower. Exposure is well managed in apparently difficult light conditions with a reasonable compromise between light and shadow. Excellent detail.

Bonjour, Jean-Yves. Excellente perspective avec cette chapelle coincée entre les remparts et la citadelle. J'aime beaucoup le contraste entre les pierres claires et le ciel bleu et la bonne gestion des zones claires et sombres.

Hello Jean-Yves,

Une très belle lumière à nouveau ! La blancheur de ces pierres tranches parfaitement avec le bleu parfait du ciel !
Ce qui m'impressionne beaucoup dans tes photographies, ce sont tes ciels ! Ils sont presque toujours d'un bleu impressionnant !
Dans cette image, l'exposition est exemplaire ! Malgré la blancheur des pierres tu as réussi à garder des détails dans les ombres ! S'agit-t'il d'un HDR ?
Dans tout les cas : bravo !

Your composition is great using the vertical format to bring out the height of the scene. The areas of light and shadow are great forming nice contrast throughout the shot. The lighting and color are great with nice sharpness and DOF. The deep blue sky forms a nice backdrop to the castle.

I think strong wall have always been preferable to prayers, jean Ives.You have become the photographer of San Marion and have managed to make it look lovely. Here, the vertical, ordered composition matches the classical architecture so well. regards kevin

Wow, the clarity and the sharpness of this is amazing, with every stone visible. The wide angle really works well here too, giving us some strongly converging lines which make this quite interesting visually. Well done!

Jolie contribution, au niveau du graphisme et bonne note bien vue, a mon avis! Faire croire au clampin que sa foi le protege, mais preferer pour soi un solide mur d'enceinte...
Il y'a la toute une philosophie qui ne me parait pas si exclusive au Moyen-Age, finalement...
