I've just seen the theme of the day "Peace in the World". Well I didn't have any appropriate photo to contribute but I found this one, the flag of my city. Belgrade suffered a lot, not only through history but in the recent past too. So here's an opportunity to say "outloud" I hope that there will be no more wars and bombing, and that we can officially become part of Europe with normal living standard. I think it's time :)
Thanks for reading.

The flag of Belgrade is composed of three Serbian national colours: red, blue and white. The blue symbolises hope and faith in better future. The red of the ground is a symbol of the suffering of Serbian people in a struggle for freedom. Two horizontal white lines represent the Sava and Danube rivers, which are symbols of the strength of Belgrade. They are white according to heraldry rules. "Beograd" is Serbian name for "white city," so there are white walls and towers. The walls represent a merchant city; the towers and open gate represent an open market. The ship, a Roman trireme, is a symbol of the antiquity of the city.

Thank you all for your comments, it means a lot to me!

hi Snezana

Well said and a flag to go with it.

tfs, bill

A nice contribution for peace in the world, thanks for the picture and very informative note....

Hi Snezana,
you live in one of the last places of Europe with war being something known to the people just living there, therefore the flag is a good symbol for the question of peace.
A bit tight in the framing and also a bit too much in the centre, some more space around and more on one side would be better in my eyes.
Lieben Gruss, Ulf
