Photographer’s Note
Two of the three bells of this great and ancient cathedral have developed cracks many years ago. At the present time only the smallest bell, originally used for death announcements is in use and working.
All bells have names. The original St. John bell was cast in 1486 by master John Wagner in Spisska Nova Ves, cracked in 1984 and is out of commission since 1990 after several tries to fix the crack failed. The new bell was named also St. John and was cast in the bell foundry of Mrs. Maria Tomasikova-Dytrychova in Brodek u Prerova, Czech Republic, 508 years after the original bell on August 11, 1994. On September 1, 1994, the day of the patron of the cathedral, St. Egidius and the town of Bardejov, it was blessed by the Bishop of Kosice J. E. mons. Alojz Tkac. The cost of the bell was over 2 million Slovak crowns. 1/2 million was donated by the city. 100,000.00 was donated personally by the President of the Slovak Republic Ing. Michal Kovac and the rest was collected from the people of Bardejov.
The largest bell of the Cathedral of St. Egidius is named St. Urban and it was cast in September 1574, in Polish town Tarnov, by their master Jonh and his son, also John. This bell since it is bigger it will be more expensive and so far the donations include 1 million from the city of Bardejov, 100,000.00 from a private local company Bapos, 125,000.00 was collected during blessing of St. John's bell, 700,000.00 was collected through household's collections and they still need 1 million to be able to cast the new bell of St. Urban.

Bonjour, cher Claude,
Philippe

Hello Claude,
the technical quality of this image is not the best, but the moment is excellent, IMHO!
two bells and the dark figure of a woman passing by... as if she is the necessary "missing element" in the picture...
I would also suggest correcting the slight tilt (the image seems a bit tilted to the left)..
Kind regards,
and wishes of a good weekend!
Elena
