‘Postojna - Subterranean visit’

In Slovenia there are almost 7,500 known and explored caves. More than 20 caves are open or partially open to tourists.

The Postojna Cave system is the largest known cave system in Slovenia and also the most visited.
Despite the annual large number of visitors I found only a few pictures of the caves on TE.

Due to light conditions it was very difficult to make a good picture of the big rooms in the cave.
Hereby I post a photo of a path leading through the world of stalactites and stalagmites.

The Postojna Cave is a ‘horizontal cave’ with well kept paths which makes it a little less adventurous for the visitors.
The good thing is that everybody is able to see all the different rock formations and you don’t need any special caving equipment.

this Cave is very beautyfull but I think that is too much electrical light. It looks artificially a little.

Hi Paul,
nice the interior of this cave in Postojna with the light to be enough to see the details and the beauty of it.The shots in the caves are difficult to be managed well, because of the low lighting conditions.

Somehow in this light it reminds me the Alien series, with all these insect-like things in the caves!
Great photo - and interesting fact about Slovenia, only one island in all the country but so many caves.

Wonderful cave and marvellous light, something difficult of obtaining inside these caves, equally very good quality in the image that there allows to see each of the nice drawings of the rock. Good work with the frame that praises this nice postcard.

Niettegenstaande dat u schrijft het licht moeilijk was, toont u ons een prachtig beeld.
Zeer mooie diepgaand, de leuningen zijn daarvoor een deel verantwoordelijk.

Excellent cave shot. I really like your inclusion of the fence that bends around the corner. Also very sharp and detailed. I have visited the caves myself and it very nice too see it again in this way. TFS and have a nice evening!

There is a good clarity to discover this cave (maybe you've used a fill flash)allowing to see nicely the details. The different color tones of the rocks are pleasant to look at!

Hello Paul,I have seen one cave in Australia, a very beautiful place and captured with excellent light and colour. The railing and path I think is very important element here it adds contrast & interest with it's curve. Very difficult light conditions but you have produced a very good image.
