Photographer’s Note

About 12 km notheastern from Postojna is situated Predjamski grad (The Jama (cave) Castle). It is one of the most visited castles in Slovenia. Castle was built-up into the ovehanging rock and vista to that combination of a nature and man work is really great. Walk throug the castle halls is an unique event. Very realistic man size dummies are presenting ancient life of the castle. There is also a museum collection and ancient armoury. Below the castle is "Jama pod Predjamskim gradom" (Cave under the Castle) where use to be horse studs. The castle was first mentioned in 1274.

hello Marjan,
the upward looking point of view works very well here to show the precarious position of the castle. I also like a lot the layers here - grass in the foreground, the rock, the castle, rocks again, trees, and then the strongly polarised sky, that's a great way to build the photo. excellent observation and great shot, my compliments.

What an impressive place !

Živ Marjan,

Klasična fotka, zelo lepo izvedena. Zares me že dolgo kle ni bilo, tako da sem že mal pozabil kako lepo je. V glavnem, zelo fina perspektiva in kader v celoti. Vidim da maš kar lepo pofarbano karto Slovenije, pohvalno (razen tega da si Štajersko mal izpustil - problemi s pasušom? Hec :D)

I like the POV from below to emphasize the size and dominant position of the castle

A very interesting structure. It looks like it grew out of the cave just like the Montserrat Monastery in Spain. Your point of view and exposure for the picture is well chosen. TFS.

From this POV you're able to show the castle with its beautiful surroundings: a green hill, the rocks, the cave and forests on top of the rocks. I'v seen more pics of it, but this one makes it look the most impressive.

Hello Marjan,
I have seen pictures of this castle before but unfortunately not visited it. It's a fantastic looking place and you have chosen a very good POV. There's a balance between the sky and the green hillside, between the trees on top of the mountain and those below the castle. And the castle is almost surrounded by solid, grey rock. Very good colours and sharpness.
