non sono mai stata un'amante delle due ruote, ma e' chiaro che imparare ad andare in bicicletta non e' una di quelle cose sulle quali si possa trattare con i propri genitori - lo devi fare e basta, altrimenti che bambino sei?
io credo che i miei si siano convinti che il mezzo a due ruote non facesse per me dopo che distrussi l'ennesimo vaso di piante durante una vacanza al mare, andandoci a sbattere contro. la padrona della casa in affitto manifesto' con poche ma chiare parole il suo disappunto e la mia bici venne fatta sparire senza troppi commenti.
paradossalmente vivo in un paese dove la bicicletta regna sovrana. ma ci sono anche molti vasi di piante, per cui continuo ad andare a piedi.
la foto e' la scansione di un vecchio negativo Fuji Superia.
as a kid one of your first obligations is to learn how to ride a bicycle. and that's not something you can open a negotiation on with your parents - you've got to learn, period. otherwise you're not really a kid.
I guess my parents finally understood that bicycles were not for me when I smashed the umpteenth terracotta pot in a house we were renting during our summer holidays - I practically ran into a few of them, destroying pots and plants. the landlady was not amused. my parents disposed of the bicycle without a word and I never saw the thing again.
ironically I moved to a country where bicycles rule.
but there are also lots of potted plants, so I keep going on foot =)

I like this pillar at the FG, the color and texture of the wall, the towel hanging from the bar and of course the bikeCould be excellent too in b&w, I feel

Molto bella questa immagine quasi in bianco e nero.
I muri vecchi e rovinati hanno sempre un gran fascino.

Hi Cristina,

The quality is fantastic here, I wouldn't believe it's a scan if you didn't tell it:) It also looks like a partial desaturation/sepia conversion, as everything except for the bike and some other pixels is not in color. Very nostalgic shot indeed.

..and in Holland everybody has the responsibility insurance, so it doesn't matter if you ride your bike into a flower pot... it would be worse if you end up in a canal though, there are usually no railings along them, as you of course know :)

Stupendo questo scatto, lo trovo veramente ben composto, ottima la scansione e la scelta della tonalità apparentemente desaturata quasi BW.
Ho anch'io un rapporto un pò conflittuale con la bici per cui la foto con la tua nota l'apprezzo ancora di più !

Mi piace questa foto.
Mostra cura da parte tua nella ricerca dei particolari.

Sicuramente l'inserimento della colonna sulla destra aiuta nella composizione, contribuendo anche a dare un tocco di dinamicità.

Hello Cristina,
I love your bike story! And this is a great photo to accompany it - a broken bike, your revenge on all the bikes of the world!
The composition is excellent, with the pillar in the fg. The desaturation makes all of the textures come out. Great job.

È una strana bicicletta. Ha incontrato probabilmente un vaso di fiori appesi ad un muro ed il suo manubrio è restato nei fiori!
La tua composizione è meravigliosa, i colori dolci, mi piace questo vecchio muro, la colonna, le arcate che si indovina, il tessuto appeso... L'inquadratura è proprio molto riuscita.

Pochi elementi in questa tua foto cristina ma molto ben posizionati , le antiche mura e la colonna la rendono molrìto interessante così come le tonalità di colore , bella e simpatica anche la nota complimenti.

A beautiful composition, simple but very aesthetic. I like the desaturated colours and the different, separate elements with seemingly no connections between them.

Grande compo Cri che si regge, come ha opportunamante Francio ancor più della bici sulla colonna in primo piano. Certo sia bici che straccio devono aver vissuto tempi migliori.... Grandissima!

Ciao cara Cris,
neppure io sono tanto amante delle due ruote, a meno che non abbiano anche un motore. Ogni tanto uso la bicicletta per andare in centro, la stessa che mi hanno regalato a 12 anni e che custodisco gelosamente. Esternate le considerazioni sulle due ruote, devo ammettere che qui siamo davanti ad un capolavoro, non solo perchè considerando che è una scansione il risultato è sbalorditivo, ma soprattutto perchè la composizione, la tonalià ed i dettagli fanno di questa immagine un lavoro che raramente i professionisti riescono a fare. Qui, veramente, hai tirato fuori tutta la tua vena artistica, perchè di arte si tratta. Complimenti, cara amica, una delle tue migliori in assoluto.

Oh I have to bore you with personal reactions here :-)... it just triggered memories of a strangely abandoned bike I saw in Naples near a monastery, and the mood & grain of the picture also made me think of de Sica's movie Bicycle Thieves... Love the post-processing, the whole texture of the image, a vintage but contemporary look.
