Photographer's Note

A winter evening inevitably approaching while I am hiking near Berebica mountain high above Trenta valley. The air is clear and cold, so, no pronounced alpenglow today. The sky is deep blue and the array of mountains, the main group of the East Julian Alps, is still shining white. Just a few puffy clouds become slightly pink somewhat later. A dead tree trunk points toward the sky an proves that everything is transient in this world.

These are two shots superimposed, clouds and the mountains with the trunk, both made in the same day and place, but at different time and angle. A copy-slide was made from this sandwich (long before I entered 'digital times'). Nevertheless, there was no digital copy-and-paste or cloning and I admitted openly. You may or may not like it - click it off, if not. Scanned by Nikon CoolScan IV-ED. The sky masked and blurred 2pix, mask inverted, mountains sharpened using Unsharp Mask tool 65%, 1 pix radius. The trunk was manually lightened in the lower part and its contrast enhanced a bit. JPEG level 35 (Corel PhotoPaint notation).
