‘Ptuj - Bridge to Ptuj’
Ptuj is probably the most picturesque town in Eastern Slovenia.
It’s also the oldest documented town in the country and its rich cultural and historical heritage and the wonderful setting at the river Drava haven’t attracted yet the masses of tourists that you can find in some places in the west of Slovenia.
From http://www.slovenia.info :
The history of Ptuj reaches back to the Stone Age, but the city experienced its greatest flowering in the Roman period. The name originates in the times of Emperor Trajan, who granted the settlement city status and named it Colonia Ulpia Traiana Poetovio. In 69 A.D., Emperor Vespasian was elected in Ptuj, and the first written mention of the city of Ptuj is from the same year. Roman Poetovio developed into an important military, commercial, customs, and administrative center. Forty thousand people lived in the Ptuj area in this period, a number never since reached.
It was later burned by the Huns and occupied by the Avars and the Slavs. In the period of the Slav prince Pribina, it was incorporated into the Frankish state.
Later, it became the property of the Salzburg archdiocese and experienced the Hungarian attacks. The city recovered and when city rights were granted, it was able to build a wall around the city. The first city statutes from 1376 provided the legal regulation of the city and contributed to its economic power.
Sadly, this declined under the pressure of Turkish attacks and major fires, floods, and epidemics.
Today, this important economic center of the lower Podravje region is a city of fairs, a city of excursions into unspoiled nature, a city with a rich culinary offer, and a city of wine cellars and thermal springs.

Dag Paul,
Ben je Nederlandstalig ?
Een mooi zicht met de rode daken in heldere tinten en de brug die naar de kerk met het uiendak leidt. Mooi hioe de lijn van de brud verdubbeld wordt door de schaduw.
Groetjes,
Paul

Hi Paul,
The aesthetic beauty of this magnificent architecture combines with the dynamic perspective of the bridge, in a framing well chosen from a good POV.
Beautiful light and natural colors in the composition, I like a lot the graphical effect of the shade of the bridge on the water.
Nice work.
Best regards,
Josep

Hi Paul,
very pretty postcard from Slovenia. Interesting distinctive architecture and great natural colors.
But now when I think about it: the bridge is actually covering plenty of nice townhouses, it would be great to see the place from this bridge.

Hello Paul.
One good POV the chosen one for this apprehension in which it turns out to be a nice contrast between the red one of the roofs and the nice blue of the sky. The luminosity is very good.
Best regards.

Hello Paul,
I like the perspective view: the slightly curved line of the bridge across the water adds an element of dynamism and takes the look to the picturesque background. The shadow of the bridge on the water is also a very nice and, imho, quite "useful" element which adds a good balance and somehow fills in the empty space on the water :)
Very best wishes,
Elena
