Photographer’s Note
Fourth photo: so the last photo didn't turn out so well. The background is particularly weak (I had a lot of trouble with the lighting and with haze in the atmosphere looking in this direction). But, I still posted it in order to complete the story and show what the peaceful little village of 33 people looked like.
Mostly, I wonder what it would have been like to have lived a couple hundred years ago when 80% or more of the population lived in settlements this size.

This is part of a four-photo series about Crngrob ("Black Grave"), a small village in the Upper Carniolan countryside with a population of 33. More specifically, I should say a four-photo series about the dirt path leading from Škofja Loka to Crngrob. The path is not particularly long and not breathtakingly spectacular, but it was beautiful that one spring day in its subtleties: the texture of the spring mud, the gentle bends through forests and fields, the overwhelming smell of wildflowers in the wooded grove, the Alps off in the distance... Slovenia has enough massive dramatic breathtaking sites to make any tourist's head spin (I think I stumbled around in a state of shock for a couple hours after the Škocjan Caves haha; not mentally prepared for something that unreal), so it was nice to take a day off to just relax, breathe, have a picnic and appreciate Slovenia's finer details.
