Photographer's Note

Crystal clear and cold December day on the way to Vrsic pass. The Moon is just arising behind the magnificent peak of Mt. Skrlatica, the second highest peak of Slovenian part of the Julian Alps. Not much snow yet. The light is gorgeous.

Taken with 200mm lens with tele-converter 2x attached (equivalent to 400mm lens). Scanned by Nikon CoolScann IV-ED. The moon and mountains were masked off (Magic Wand tool and hand correction using mask brush) and the sky darkened a little using Curves. Mask inverted and the moon deleted from the mask using mask brush in 'subtract' mode. Resampled to 800 pix width. The mountains sharpened by Unsharp Mask tool twice: 73% at 1 pix radius and 45% at 2 pix radius. JPEG at 40% level (Corel notation).
