Bite out of the land

Joyazo crater near to the village of Nijar, Almeria, Spain. This photo was taken whilst on a fieldtrip to the area to look at he beautiful geology associated with this crater, a 3 million year old extinct volcano.
Just as we were standing here, a herd of goats came marching over the crest of the crater in the centre of the picture... you might be able to see some of them in this photo.
Inside the crater is a large dacite spine, and the ground is literally littered with garnets... and can most definitely take up a whole days worth of collecting! |
