Kitesurfing, also known as kiteboarding, involves using a power kite to pull a rider through the water on a small surfboard or a kiteboard.

A kitesurfer or kiteboarder uses a board with footstraps or bindings, combined with the power of a large controllable kite to propel himself and the board across the water. The sport is still in its infancy, but is rapidly growing in popularity. In 2006, the number of kitesurfers has been estimated at around 150,000 to 200,000.

Essentially any locale with consistent, steady side-onshore winds, large open bodies of water and good launch areas are suitable for kitesurfing. Most kitesurfing takes place along ocean shores, usually off beaches. (Info from Wikipedia)

Obviously kilometres long beach of Tarifa is optimal for kitesurfing with steady winds coming from the Atlantic Ocean.

Hi Kari
Interesting view with the beach and buildings in the background, instead of the sea:). Nice light.
Have a nice day.

Good shot of the kite surfers. There is a location near where I live favoured by kite surfers and I know how difficult it is to get a good shot, if you want both the surfer and the kite in the image, because the ropes are usually so long and the 2 elements are far apart. It looks like you managed a good angle to overcome that; from a boat maybe? Well done
Kath

Hi Kari
Very nice shot...
Good colours...
Beautiful light...
Well done...
TFS/Regards

From this angle the city is not that architecturally appealing, though the light is good, and the photo is about the sport anyway. Honestly I had not even heard of kitesurfing before, Tarifa has a windy reputation so a good place to try it. I'm sure Essaouira, Morocco will also be a top kitesurfing spot.
