this was taken in city of cordoba and the Andalucian district of spain in the south, a time when Arabs brought civilization, arts and knowledge to Europe, a time of tolerance between muslim, jew and chirstian all lived in respect of each other and thats how it should be.
This is my first picture to post here, all comments are welcomed. I will start to post more.

Hello Robert,
First of all, welcom to TE and congratulations for the words on your profile which I completely agree on.
Then about "la mesquita", if you've learned its story, it is not much about tolerance... but the christians pulled out the muslins (and the jews as well afterwards)...
I am affraid that it may be human nature...
But I believe that if we all agree on making our own opinion and not listening to all porpaganda arounf, it may become quickly much better !
Then About your picture, I know it is difficult to find an original pov in this building (I was there a year ago)
But you managed to have a good angle and a nice light.
Best regards and hope that this image is the first of many others !
Christian

Hi Robert and welcome to TE.
Let me say that more than the building, the story of this country speaks about tolerance... until the Christians reconquered this territory, of course.

Good POV and light.

Carlos.

Wonderful picture....

Andalusia was great era in human history.

Thanks Robert

I hate to comment as I don't have any of my pictures up yet (lazy) but I just wanted to say something about the history commented on here. Let's not idealize any part of history, particularly medieval history. It was a cruel time, and although there was relatively little persecution lets not forget that no societ at that time (or any, ever) was perfect - including al-Andalucia. Christians and Muslims alike are equally responsible throughout history for periods of intolerance and oppression.

Anyhow, great shot!

Nice picture Robert with an interesting chosen angle . We give faith about how difficult it s to get a defined view inside the mosque . We tried without flash , manual mode and playing with diafragme and exposures but we missed . In your case the result is really successful , clean , neat . Agree with Coco about the comment to your note : catholic kingdom spoiled it all , as the best example of pacific convivence just stroll Toledo and imagine how those 3 religions could cohabitate peacefully in such a nice decorated place
