This ceiling in the Palacio Nazaries, the emir's palace in the Alhambra, is absolutely mesmerising and probably the most brilliant Muslim building on the site.
The intricate geometrical patterns can be seen in the honeycomb/stalactite ceiling and this theme prevails throughout the whole complex. There are many materials used here including ivory and sapphire.
There are arabic inscriptions in the moulded stucco walls, making the palace feel extremely symbolic.
Difficult to get a photo of this without one of the windows letting in too much light. I chose this point of view to try and get all of the lovely star shape in the frame.
