[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
The Alhambra seen today was not built in one go at a determined date. Apart from the amplifications made by the Nasrids in their day which constitute the most important part, there are earlier constructions as well as the important additions and modifications of Christian times which have continued up to our own time.

Court of the Myrtles
detail of the wall

The patio is the most important feature in all Hispano-Islamic domestic architecture and by it the social and economic status of a family can be judged. In reality palaces are nothing but houses, on a grander scale and more highly embellished certainly, but still with the same structure and functions.

The Court of the Myrtles takes its name from the beds of myrtle bushes which border the pool...
(to be continued)

Stephen captured the court very well (showing the wall which from this detail was taken) and his photo is available here, so please take your time and have a look.

Very nice close-up, and again, exquisite carvings and details. I'm impressed by the intricate pattern of the wall relief. Well seen and captured Robert!

What can I say, you have captured the details both in colour and sharpness yet again - keep up the good work :)

Hi Robi. Your series with the Alhambra details continues to impress for the precision with which you frame your photos, and for the amount of detail present in the intricate artwork. This is another good example, that makes a very appealing viewing for the richness of textures. Well done.
