Jaén, view of the cathedral and the city centre on a rainy day in April.

Jaén is the capital of one of the 8 Andalucian provinces.
It’s not at all visited that much as some of the other province capitals (for instance Granada, Sevilla, Cordoba, Cadiz).
I have to admit that these other towns definitely have more sites of interest for visitors but Jaen has a few very beautiful and interesting monuments.
The cathedral, the Moorish castle of Santa Catalina and the Arab Baths are the most important.

From the place where I took this picture I had a beautiful view on a charming provincial capital built on hills with many streets winding up and down.

The bad thing was that during that day in April it had rained most of the day. Still I enjoyed my visit very much.

Jaén Cathedral is one of the most important Renaissance style cathedrals in Spain.
From http://www.aspainattraction.com:
Jaén`s cathedral was built in the 16th and 17th centuries to the design of Andres de Vandelvira. The main front is decorated with balconies and statues sculpted for the most part by Pedro Roldan. Inside, the church has three naves, a fine cupola, richly carved choir stalls, many chapels, an elegant chapter house and upper galleries. Behind the main altar is a chapel containing the Reliquia del Santo Rostro, a cloth with an image of Christ`s face.

Goeieavond Paul,

Vriendelijke groeten,
Eddie

olá,
what a great cathedral!!! compared to this cathedral all the rest of the houses look like small lego constructions!!! the fog in the back is also very beautiful! congratulations and TFS!

hi Paul,
Nice panorama of city.
Nice architecture! Good composition, colors and details! Lovely place!
Greetings from Serbia, Bane

Hi Paul.

Maybe I showed a little more of the sky but...excellent view.

Rgs, Oscar

Despite the lack of sunlight, the colors of the roofs are bright and eye catching, I like the angle showing the architectural highlights together with a distant smidgen of olive groves for which the city is famous.

The red frame?...
Is a question of personal taste.

Hello Paul,
Very different picture of Jaen to mine!
That's an interesting POV from these little streets going up the hills. This cathedral is massive and going a bit further away permits to see it all and have an idea of its surroundings.
Just a tiny detail: I would have prefered to get the top of the hill on the right. But that's beeing picky, the overall picture is very good

It's a wonderful composition. The image of the cathedral is great, and the composition makes possible a good comparison with the size of the houses.

I've done a workshop trying to avoid the luck of brightness in the colours. I hope you don't mind and you like the image.

Best regards
Víctor

Hola amigo.
Buena imagen con un muy buen punto de vista, buenos colores y una bella composición.

Un saludo

Hello Paul
The rain gives a beautiful atmosphere. The composition is excellent with the red roofs leading us into the picture. Good framing as well.
Phil

Hello Paul

An excellent point of view, with many details and elements that stand out within the composition.

The orange roofs, next to the cathedral, determine what is a beautiful city, with a great balance in the frame. Perhaps the only thing I do not like is the framework, but it is a nice job.

John

Bonjour Paul,
superbe cathédral avec vue originale par dessus les toits .

Paul,
Very nice rooftop view of the cathedral. Great detail and sharpness considering it was a rainy day with poor light condition for photo. Great composition. I like it very much the way it is; however, I wonder how it would look if it's a little bit more contrast.

High, it's a very good photo, maybe it's even good that there were no sun at the moment. Photo gets some special mood because of the lighting. Interesting info about the town.

Hello PAul,

nice landscape view of that cathedral Jaén.The rain doesen't distroy a very good image here.I often say that we do not can only make shot's under super sunny conditions.Well done.

With regards from Luxembourg

Jean-Claude

Hi Paul,

Very very strong shot.

Hi Paul,
You got a great pov on the cathedral, since it is the focus of the shot,i don't think that missing a bit of the hill matters.
Also well done with the lovely natural colouring, and i think, that not being too saturated and and sharpened suits the scene, especially, with the fog patches, sorry Guntin, i prefer this image.

Hi Paul,
This is quite an impressive church and very big if compared to the other buildings. The surrounding landscape is also quite captivating. Great POV to boot.

Goeieavond Paul,

Benny
