Photographer's Note

Hello friends and colleagues, today I offer another photo of the visit to Cadiz of the regatta of great sailboats, today is the last, I offer you a photo of the Lehmkuhl Statsraad. I hope you like it, next a few letters about its history. In the Ws another view.

Statsraad Lehmkuhl is a three-sided sailing training vessel, equipped and operated by the Statsraad Lehmkuhl Foundation. Its base is in Bergen, Norway and contracted out for various purposes, including serving as a school ship for the Royal Norwegian Navy.

It was built in 1914 as a school training ship for the German merchant navy under the name Grossherzog Friedrich August. After World War I the boat was taken as a prize by the United Kingdom and in 1921 the ship was bought by former minister Kristoffer Lehmkuhl (hence the name, meaning "Cabinet Minister Lehmkuhl"). With the exception of World War II, when it was captured by German troops and called Westwärts, the ship belonged to Bergens Skoleskib until it was donated to the Foundation in 1978.
