Zaragoza - Basilica de Ntra. Sra. del Pilar

Dedicated to Malgo who has recently been uploading lots of pictures of northern Spain and also photos of Zaragoza, the biggest city of Aragón.
Then I thought of this picture of Zaragoza that I took about a year ago and still wanted to show here.
Now just hope Malgo will not say she was just planning to upload a similar photo …

Here you see the silhouettes of the towers and the dome of the famous Basilica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar. This is one of Spain’s greatest religious buildings.

The basilica takes its name from a pillar on which the Virgin is said to have descended from heaven in an apparition before the apostle St. James.
The photo is taken in the early evening from the bridge Puente de Piedra where hundreds of tourists gather to take pictures.
