Majorca is predominantly made of limestone, hence in addition to photogenic cliffs and wonderful sea coves it has a high number of caves. The most popular network of caves is the Cuevas del Drach but it is quite crowded, and you need to book tickets in advance. That is why I decided to visit other caves, Coves de Campanet. While Cuevas del Drach have wonderful colourful illuminations and even a concert at the end, the Coves de Campanet are all natural and unspoiled. The one has crowds, the other is nearly empty. The first has the busy visitor centre the second a charming quiet cafe with beautiful views of the valley. Having said that I think both are well worth visiting.

I am quite bad in taking handheld photos under such challenging conditions but I wanted to have a record of this beautiful place, and show another aspect of Majorca here, so I gave it a try. Because the natural colors underground are kind of washed out I decided to desaturate it to black and white.
