Hikers paradise, a photo from La Palma, Canarias

Photographer's Note

I have just returned from family holidays on La Palma, one of the less popular Canary Islands. The tourism is not very present there with just few hotels across the island and rather with the banana plantations dominating the scenery. You may have seen previously the wonderful reportage from this island presented by adramad.

Roque de los Muchachos in the Caldera de Taburiente National Park is the highest point of the island at 2426 m above the sea level. You can drive to the very top by car. From the summit some lovely walks start which allow to appreciate this amazing volcanic landscape. This photo was taken not far from the summit.

You can imagine how excited was my family when I forced them to leave the convenience of the all-inclusive hotel to enjoy this rough moon-like landscape.

Ahaha..Hi Marius,i imagine the faces and the hentusiastic comments of your family about your choice..ahahha...but it needs a bit of advernture days to see fantastic views like that. Am i right in thinking that you were here at the Canary Islands before? Good for you to seek this place out, must be quite the views and quite the landscape to see in person. awesome variations of colours here and depth, the landscapes go on and on and on. love the rustic features, No city life here!! A wonderful mountain landscape. The reddish colours in the foreground, mixed with some patches of green, are gorgeous and stand out so well against the hazy landscape in the distance. Excellent lighting.

Good evening Mariusz,
The red rock at the summit gave most attraction here, volcanic "work" by earth appear stunning on picture.
I was looking for an object that would enable scale, but I can only see sizes differentials from foreground to far side rocks.
Anyway, an intriguing photo session.

Mariusz, only some tufts of grass grow in that mineral landscape. The volcanic summits are bare, it should be a perfect place for hiking with breathtaking views. I like the mountain silouhettes in the bg. Good image quality

A spectacular view from one of the many peaks in the centre of Las Palmas Island in the Canary Islands. Good sharpness and well framed and composed. The walking track through the rough terrain leading to a lookout provides strong lead in lines and perspective . Thanks for sharing!

Świetny górski krajobraz. Niesamowite są te kolory skał. Połączenie górskich wędrówek z odpoczynkiem nad morzem jest super. Pamiętam że w Czarnogórze udało mi się być na wysokościach powyżej 2000 M by wieczorem dojechać i kąpać się w morzu.
Ciekawa prezentacja. Ja chyba preferuję pomalowany horyzont :)

When I saw the photograph, I was wondering how your daughter felt about being at the very top of a volcano! I know my children would have been so excited and eager to tell everyone at home just where they had been! It's easy to make an exciting story from this sort of location!
You have done a fine job of giving excellent details of the f/g, the rocks being almost palpable, and setting this against an exciting b/g of misty mountains.
This is a place which benefits from not having other figures around!

Yes, this is what I also would call a hikers paradise.
The landscape looks wonderful, impressive and challenging to explore further. The path in the middle probably leads to fantastic panoramas.
This landscape reminds me a little, just a little of a long walk that I made in Madeira.
I am convinced that your daughter was very excited and soon forgot the beaches of the island.

I celebrate that at the end you decided to go to the island of La Palma, this view of the Roque de los Muchachos is spectacular with its different colors of earth, lava and rock, the perspective on the summits is great.
I see that you also went to the Hotel Princess, I hope you will enjoy its wonderful pools.

panorama incredibile, il colore rosso lo rende simile a Marte....
Si tratta comunque di un paesaggio suggestivo e originale, sicuramente fa molto più effetto dal vivo.
