The valley is located in Cantabria Liébana bounded by the Cantabrian Mountains and the Picos de Europe, with part of its territory in the Reserve and National Saja National Park in the Picos de Europe. In articulating these two towering mountain ranges lies the beautiful valley of Liébana, which moves in depth between 100 metres above sea level of Hermida and 300 of Potts, its capital.
The output of natural valley is the gorge of La Hermida, an impressive gorge 20 kilometers que ha ido digging into the limestone rocks of the Picos de Europe Deva River, which flows into the Bay of Biscay in the town of Unquera. The other accesses Valley Liébana are the Port of San Glorio, which unites Cantabria and the Port of Leon and Piedras Luengas, which unites Cantabria and Palencia. For its location, surrounded by high mountains around its perimeter, the area is favored by a microclimate benevolent and a great landscape value. |
