Photographer's Note

The route of the Cares is one of the footpaths most known about the Peaks of Europe, placed between the province of León and the Asturian community. It passes between the localities of Poncebos and Caín (León) in Spain, being formerly the only communication between both peoples during the winter snowfalls.

The route of the Cares thinks up for the call The Divine Gullet of the river Cares and it is a question of a way to half a height that was opened in the rock for the construction of the canalization that feeds the hydroelectric head office of Camarmeña - Poncebos constructed between the year 1916 and 1921.

The length of the route is of 12Km and it thinks up for a way of 1,5m of width with very few differences on that the cliff borders with deep coffees with a dash of milk.

The rock in the one that opens to herself the ravine is of gray limestone in that there is multitude of hoquedades in which, some of them have taken advantage for refuge of the sheep that grazes for the place.
