The Alcázar of Toledo is a stone fortification located in the highest part of Toledo, Spain.

Once used as a Roman palace in the 3rd century. It now houses the Castilla-La Mancha Regional Library

Hello Andre,

What a nice photo: the lightning is very good and the clouds ended to put a strong atmosphere on the overall photo.
I like the gradation of the shadows from the dark in the bottom (but with still details) to the light on the Alcazar.

Hi André,
cet éclairage est fantastique. Il met parfaitement en valeur le monument, qui apparaît alors un peu comme une vedette sur scène sous les feux de la rampe. Le ciel sombre accentue cette mise en valeur. La photo est vraiment prise au bon moment, bravo !

Hello Andre,
Using the lightbeams emerging out those thick clouds is a very nice idea to lighten up this frame. The fortress is nice but the houses on the hill, enlightened with a warm touch, and the ones towards us, and their shaded look create a joyous play of light. Contrast is very beautiful. Cheers,

Hi Andre,
I like your viewpoint, and especially with the light on the castle. The houses how the build up from the right to the castle is really beautiful and create a wonderful composition.
I saw the ws, and we can argue about that, but that one is over the top. Sharpening is to much, it really looks terrible now, although yours can be a little bit better. The warm tones here is also something i like more then the blue ones in the ws. The main colour here is red from the rooftiles from the houses, so red it must be, not blue. Yes there is a slight red color cast here, but for the mood i also prefer this one above the blue tones in the ws.
Who said photography was easy....and who said photoshop was easy....pfffff

Actually, I think the warm tones here are very appropriate given the overclouded sky and the color temp is just right. No need to correct nature as we perceive it. I don't think sharpness is needed here. For me it's fine... but anyway some people also complaint about the lack of sharpness in my last post. I like the composition, the placement of the Alcázar and the way light enhances that area. Exposure is great, showing us the difference between the lit and the shadow areas with great detail in both. In resume, I like this one a lot. Nice postcard from Toledo. I just miss the River Tagus ;)

tu sais que je pars bientôt alors tu me nargues avec plein de photos des places où je m'en vais?:D ahahhahha!! J'adore de plus en plus Toledo en cause de toutes ces belles photos que je découvre.
J'aime bien la lumière directement sur L'Alcázar avec le reste dans l'ombre. Les couleurs sont chaudes et le ciel menacant, ça donne du caractère à l'image. C'est une belle prise de vue, mais c'est vraiment les différences entre les zones d'ombres et de lumières qui sauvent la vedette.

Un ciel de circonstance pour enjoliver cette prise de vue de l'Alcazar de TOLEDO. L'éclairage providentiel est superbe, mettant en valeur la construction. Une image aux tons chauds.

Une lumière qui fait ressortir la dominante rouge des toits et des façades de cette ville, un ciel menaçant qui fait un fond superbe et un POV qui renforce l'allure imposante de l'Alcazar. Encore une photo digne de figurer dans un guide touristique! Surout ne change rien et oublie la proposition de WS, trop bleue et trop nette.

Bel édifice, depuis un PDV bien choisi, surplombant la ville, avec ses quatre tours aux quatre angles, bien illuminé par la lumière. Le ciel est bien menaçant et l'on sent que la pluie est proche. Je préfère cette version à celle proposée dans le WS.

Voila un lieu de sejour un tout petit peu plus luxueux que ma becosse *****... Je vois que ca a entraine un petit debat au sujet du rendu des couleurs, perso moi je vote (sic !) pour ta version chaude car la ce n'est pas comme dimanche prochain, y'a pas photo (re-sic !) et les couleurs que tu presentes representent bien des conditions de lumiere orageuse telles que j'ai pu en voir.

Quelle lumiere remarquable! Sous ce ciel bien couvert et bien gris une lumiere permet de mettre parfaitment en valuer cette belle construction. Ton point de vue est aussi particulierement bien choisi nous permettant de voir comment tous ces immeubles se sont acrroches sur la colline tout autour. tres beau travail.

Another proof that to have an extraordinary shot it doesn't always require the perfect weather conditions, Andre. You managed to capture a very dramatic sky and cloud formation and avoided it well to get a dull light making it flat. Not quite sure how you did it, but the outcome is great. The composition with the houses and the Alcazar in the background is magnific. I wonder how many books are in there. That is a hell of a library! Huge!!!

Photographer's dream - such an exceptional lighting. And You knew well how to use. Great perspective from above the roofs, charming homogeneity of architecture. The red tint is visible, indeed, but imo it adds character to this scenery.

Me gusta mucho el angulo qhe has empleado, resaltando la altura del edificio sonbre la colina. El momento en que hiciste la foto, con ese cielo tenebroso, le da un aspecto asombroso a la imagen.
