Hoy quiero presentaros una de las obras arquitectónicas más importantes de la ciudad de Igualada.
Se trata del Asilo del Sant Crist, una residéncia para la tercera edad destinando sus servicios a todos aquellos que no se pueden permitir un asilo privado.
Su construcción es espectacular, obra del arquitecto Joan Rubió i Bellver, nacido en Reus (Baix Camp) el 24-4-1870.
Rubió i Bellver se tituló como arquitecto en 1893.
Es uno de los últimos miembros del Modernismo. Fue discípulo y ayudante de Gaudí, trabajando con el desde 1893 hasta 1905 en la Sagrada Familia, en la Casa Batlló y en el Park Güell.
Es uno de los más importantes sintetizadores de las ideas arquitectónicas de Gaudí. Rubió consideraba que el diseño y las estructuras de Gaudí solucionaban los problemas planteados por el eclecticismo en el siglo XIX.
En 1905 fue elegido concejal del Ayuntamiento de Barcelona.
También fue arquitecto de la Diputación de Barcelona donde participó en diversos proyectos de reforma como la de la Casa dels Canonges (Generalitat de Catalunya) en Barcelona.
El trabajo de Rubió i Bellver es muy importante y está presente en muchos lugares de Cataluña. Sus edificios más interesantes son: la Casa Macari Golferichs (1901), la Casa Roviralta - El Frare Blanc - (1903), sus edificios dentro de la Escuela Industrial de Barcelona - Actualmente Universidad, Colegio Ramon Llull - (1912), y el Asilo del Sant Crist en Igualada.
Rubió murió en Barcelona el 30-11-1952.

Hello to everybody!

Today I want to present one of more important architectonic works of the city of Igualada. Is the "Asylum of the Sant Crist", a residence for the third age destining its services to all those that cannot be allowed a private asylum. Its construction is spectacular, builds of the architect Joan Rubió i Bellver, born in Reus (Baix Camp) 24-4-1870. Rubió i Bellver was calld like architect in 1893. He is one of the last members of the Modernism. He was disciple and assistant of Gaudí, working with him from 1893 to 1905 in the Sagrada Family, the Batlló House and Park Güell. He is one of the most important sintetizers of the architectonic ideas of Gaudí. Rubió considered that the design and the structures of Gaudí solved the problems posed by the eclecticism in century XIX. In 1905 councilman of the City council of Barcelona was chosen. Also he was architect of the Delegation of Barcelona where dels Canonges (Autonomous Government of Catalonia) in Barcelona participated in diverse projects of reform like the one of the House. The work of Rubió i Bellver is very important and is present in many places of Catalonia. Their more interesting buildings are: the House Macari Golferichs (1901), the Roviralta House - the Frare Blanc - (1903), its buildings within the Industrial School of Barcelona - At the moment University, School Ramon Llull - (1912), and the Asylum of the Sant Crist in Igualada. Rubió died in Barcelona 30-11-1952.

A esto se le llama telepatía y me alegra que coincidamos, a mi me gusta en general el estilo modernista y, pienso que en Cataluña hay una muy buena y en ocasiones poco conocida colección de esta corriente, como este original edificio del "Asil del Sant Crist".
Un buen encuadre del edificio, con buenos colores y una perfecta definición.

Hola Jordi,
Mira, siempre se aprende algo. Arquitecto y obra absolutamente desconocidas para mí (creo que me van a suspender). El edificio me parece muy interesante y la foto muy bien realizada.
El edificio contrasta muy bien con el azul del cielo, nítida, muy buena luz y una nota muy completita.

la nota és molt bona i informa molt bé sobre un altre reusenc genial, encara que menys conegut, sempre a l'ombra del mestre.
La foto té força, el grafisme d'aquesta arquitectura és molt maco, i vas donar una bona perspectiva cap al cel blau des d'un bon punt de vista molt baix, amb un bon control de la forta llum.
M'agrada l'efecte d'escortes dels fanals, un a cada banda de l'edifici.

Hola Jordi.

Sin conocerlo de forma previa y antes de leer la nota, diré que es una edificio "menor" del modernismo catalán... pero menor solo por lo desconocido que pueda ser para mucha gente.

Por contra, el valor del edificio creo que es muy alto.

Hola Jordi, very nice tight composition for this curious facade that I didn't know about. Yes, I can see the style of Gaudi there. Good framing with the lamposts and lovely blue sky contrasting.
