[Ligne directrice - Note] Note du photographe
Yes, thousand of people spent their time in all the streets around Spain. It was a big celebration. Maybe someone think they celebrate a Spanish scientist has discovered the first vacuum against some mortal illness. Maybe you think they celebrate some Spanish writter has won the Nobel. Maybe you think they remember Fofito’s death.

Then, you are wrong.

They celebrate the fury of the “red one”.

It means: Spain won last Euro.

Then, they sang and cried out “I’m proud of be Spanish” (sponsored by Xibeca).

They were thousand of people and it was very interesting. I must recognize I am not a good fan. My favourite team not was Spain in the Euro. But, you know, my team was not able to take part of the Euro. But next time Cocolandia will take part and will win the final match.

But that’s not the story.
I saw people who beated cars, motorbikes and buses. I saw people who stole pedestrians who could do nothing.
Somehow it was not a good way to celebrate this victory and somehow I understood what Pepe Rubianes says about football.

But also I should say I met very nice people. Of course, there was very kind people who only wanted to enjoy and life the moment. People who spend their time with their friends and with colours in their faces. And those colours were flag’s colours.

And there is something else.
The first one I saw in Spain Square was a journalist from Antena 3 and it was a girl who was my classmate in the high-school.
This girl, when she was younger, said all the time: I want to work as a journalist. But when she had to begin she couldn’t do cause her marks in the high-school were too low. But she could study in one private university.
For a long time she had to work only for pay the university and she was working in a bakery.
And just the other day was the first in almost 10 years we met us. And it was a casuality.

However, you must know I am speaking about dreams and goals.
She wanted to work as a journalist and she has been 2 years in RNE and now one year and a half in Antena 3.
When I was younger I wanted to work as a journalist too. But finally I didn’t do it. And when I think about this story and I don’t think I should have done it, I think I should fight for my goals.

Maybe they need a long time and a long fight.
But I think they are possible.

And I know this is a casuality, the photo is about the celebration of the Spanish victory and my goal is work and life out of Spain... but, please, don’t see any link between both issues.

Also I would like dedicate this photo to Helena* (the girl who is working for Antena 3 –when I was younger I liked her... but then I was young and shy and her classmates where very hard with her-), to Francesc and Carmen and especially to Clara (the funnier and prettier girl who I met that night).

I hope you like it.

*those who laughed at her when she was younger and she was in the high-school they are, actually, no where and disappeared... but she got the work she wanted... somehow it is also about the goals of our lives

Dear Carlos,
Here is picture I could have discovered without its signature, I can see you in every detail of it, the color to start with and the candid scene of celebration. A very good journalistic shot, with your personal touch - Izzet

Bonjour Carlos
jolie photo de fête ! j'aime beaucoup l'ambiance que tu as retransmise ici. Joli travail.
bravo
Xavier

In Madrid the celebration of the triumph WAS AS WELL ABSOLUTELY SHAMEFULL with people SCREAMING ALL NIGHT REGARDLESS PEOPLE DONT INTERESTED IN SOCCER, BREAKENING THINGS AND SAYING TERRIBLE THINGS... I felt absolutely ashame of share passaport whit this people.
Muy bonita la historia de tu compañera.

It is a shame that football can bring out the worst in some people especially when they have had too much to drink. Quite often the trouble causers are not the real fans. Anyway congratulations to Spain for winning and don't let the stupid minority ruin any joy from that. Excellent documentary photo of the celebrations in your typical style.

Bonsoir Carlos,

Bona foto.
Salut,
Josep

My congratulations for the EURO trophy and for this beautiful shot my friend.

Regards
Stelios

Hola Carlos, nice story...good approach to this naked guy and fine capture of the festive red mood. Still, it's a pitty the tight crop on his hand and I'm thinking if a vertical composition would have been better. Strange man with a serious face at left...Very interesting WSs posted on Tony gallery. I actually got very glad that Spain won. As many Portuguese... ;-)
regards,
ric

Bueeeeenooo!

Hercules
