Photographer’s Note

Slussfors is situated 65 km northwest of Storuman and 65 km SE of Tärnaby along the E12, in the center of the so-called "GRATIAN area" and consists of about 70 households. Geographically divided into three parts, nedrebyn, mittibyn and neck. In the lower village runs Gierjesån (freely interpreted from sydsamiskan stenån "girkie-Johka") through the village and leads to Umeälven. Gierjesån also gave name to the village, "the nedrusande as in many regards similar to a lock-pain ..." as stated in friskattebrevet. In mittibyn are school (grades 1-6) with the library, a shop, ski slope (consecrated by Anja Persson), illuminated track and a vägkrog. Sluice Fors is beautifully at the river with views of North Gardfjällsmassivet in the west and the north is Vindelfjällen Nature.

Interesting long perspective. Very interesting red house and wonderful green meadow. GOod saturation. Superb shot.

Hi Andrey,

a typical Swedish blockhouse with lovely flowers around and a charming landscape. Framing is good but it seems to me that the photo is a little underexposed.

Looks like a very beautiful place, here captured with all that fireweed in the foreground. How did you find this remote place? Were there any fish in the "å"?

Hi Andrey,
interesting POV: I like it that you included the flowers in the FG in the photo. It seems to me the crop at the top is too tight (maybe you should have taken a few steps backwards?)
