Photographer’s Note
The first days of 2006 brought us a colder weather. Lovely days with a strong but low sun, clear air, no wind and temperatures down to -20 C. In the lower parts of the agricultural areas around our little town some fogs stayed. Not all natural fog as the excess vapour from the making of artificial snow at the two skislopes nearby tend to travel several km in this weather.
Looking across a shallow valley the layers of fog was clear to see. To get some definition of the landscape it was neccessary to look at bushes, the barns or the stacks of rolled hay.
The golden color is natural from the low sun. I locked the white balance on "sun" trying not to be fooled by an automatic white balance. I only desaturated it slightly.

Hi Ebbe
Very interesting photo, the fog turn the colours pale and smooth, good compo.
I don't know how is to live on such dramatic cold -20ºC. It's quite frozen!
Cheers

Very good, Ebbe! I love it!
You managed to capture two different worlds - the one above and under the fog/mist.
Very tasteful composition considering the placement of the barn, and filling 2/3rds of the frame with the fog.
The light is really something!

marvellous shot, the fogs gives an eerie feel, and despite it, you managed to show us the beauty of the landscape a great dof.

Hi Ebbe,
This is a very beautiful picture. I love fog, even if I find it quite difficult to photography. Here, with that little building, it is good. I very like the three different layers of the fog. Light is good too. Interesting information about the white balance. I will keep that in mind. Beautifully done!

Hi Ebbe, really smooth this one with the cloaking mist (I didn't know that this can be the side-effect of the production of artificial snow) and due to the diagonals is also graphicaly pleasing.
....and congrats with your 7D! A very able piece of kit.

Hi Ebbe,
So nice soft layers with contrast colours. Good compo (the house is right on the golden mean). Foggy atmosphere gives an impression on the place and time of the year. Thanks.

Denis

Ebbe,
Ute i kylan på de senaste bilderna, och denna är underbar med de olika lagrena. Fint med trädet och det där som står lutat mot ladan i dimman.
