Photographer’s Note
I took a tour down by the river yesterday evening long after the night had fallen, say about dinner time. I was intrigued by how the colors of the sodium lights on the industrial estate across the river gives an orange monochrome tone to our lives. As a small illustration of that I found this little group of rocks on the icy shore.
Shot with white balance on purpose set on "sun" to keep that golden glow. I tried using automatic white balance but that just gave a dull tobacco brown color.
The heavily overcast sky gave an ambient light by reflecting the lights of the town and group of lights on an industry across the river gave a nice backlight.

Obviously, the color and lack of depth to the elements in the photo here are great. I also like your framing, using the sunlight to illuminate the stick. It's hard to tell the absolute size of the objects here without some larger point of reference, but this may very well be the best there is under these conditions. Very interesting!

Dear Ebbe,
Strange but excellent shot. I really like the way to put the little branch just in the middle of the light's reflection on the water. There are just some strange "hot" pixels around some details. Anyway, nice shot.

Mmmm!!!
Ebbe, I'm glad you've decided to experiment with this one. The result is warm orange that melts everything underneath!
And it's still oily and mellow enough not to ruin the natural shapes and textures...
I like it a lot!

Hi Ebbe
This is an interesting picture! The light of this sodium lamp
which gives this orange colour is very surprising! You
managed well your shot and the composition is good too. Well done.

Hello Ebbe,
Very nice and hot colours for this picture, even if the subject is snow and ice. Beautiful contrast.
Well done.

Incredible shot. Love the backlit twig, the slow exposure stillness, the awesome colour and, of course, the note that brings it all together. Instant favourite!
