Lonely birch Photo

Photographer’s Note

Still in the fog on that cold day. As I was driving on a small country road a clear patch opened in the fog, just about 100 , across. The low sun came down in the clear patch and found a birch and a fence.

Without the fog this picture would be full of other trees and bush forests. This way the fog helped me with a nice backdrop.

I love this shot! This is so simple, yet it works so well. The lonely tree has it's shape enhanced by the absense of any competing trees to draw our attention away. I like the fence cutting across the frame and pulling us into the scene. Nice subtle colours also. Excellent!

The composition of this scene has been presented skilfully. The positioning of the tree to the left side of the frame helps to lead the eye into the picture together with the long fence. The blue cast on the snow adds a good colour cast here, in my opinion; and the neutral background emphasizes the tree well.

This is a wonderful winter scene Ebbe, very reminiscent of northern Minnesota where so many of my Norwegian relatives lived on farms with gently rolling land and fences much like this. This has a wonderful soft quality to it that in a way belies the harshness of this environment at this time of the year. Very well done.

As a footnote I'll say I'm really happy that I no longer am obliged to shovel the driveway and front walk after every snow storm... ;-)

Beautifully done. The one lone tree is nicely placed, with the fence going off into the fog giving a good perspective. I like the nice gradient of blues in the sky. Nicely captured. ~Amber

Wondeful vanishing horizon with this light in foreground,the tonalities are amazingly attractive,and I like a silence here that is cast in the atmosphere poeticaly,the fence towards the depth,the tree snowed under and some lines in the snow made it unique and great really,I enjoy the shot very much,very nicely composed and congratulation,Ebbe,skifully worked,...

Hi,

This is a beautiful capture with good sharpness and beautiful gradient in the sky. The fence provides a natural guide to the eye and I find it helps lead it towards the trail in the snow.

The diagonal line of footsteps that have blemished the virgin snow togehter with the very smooth light you have makes this an excellent winter shot.
