Photographer’s Note
The Chinese Pavilion is a remarkable treasure in the majestic grounds of Drottningholm in Stockholm, Sweden.
King Adolf Fredrik surprised Queen Lovisa Ulrika on her birthday in 1753 with a small Chinese pleasure palace in the Drottningholm Palace park. It was a highly appreciated birthday present as chinoiserie was all the rage in Europe at the time.
The original wooden building was replaced in the 1760s by a more permanent one, which today contains one of the finest European rococo interiors with chinoiserie.
Visitors can view this exotic milieu between May and September.
The Chinese Pavilion, together with Drottningholm Palace and its grounds, is on UNESCO's World Heritage List.

Hello Ismojo,
A good capture of this interesting and lovely building, really not the sort of architecture you expect to find in Sweden. The tones are a little on the sombre side but this does not prevent us form enjoying the detail in the architecture. The visitors add to the mood.

Hello Ismojo!
Very impressive architecture photo, great composition and framing! The light conditions weren't very good but you did the best you cood under certain circumstances and you captured some beautiful colours!

Hello Ismojo,
yes, Chinese pavilion was very popular in the 18th century and this piece is not less nice than that in Potsdam, for instance. To enhance the rich golden decoration I have made a corrected version, I hope you will like it.
Best whishes
