Photographer’s Note

This is Mariefred railway station which is close to the Gripsholm Slott.

I thought to take a photo not only of the station but also of the narrow gauge railway itself. The steam train chugs between Mariefred and Läggesta during the high season.

The railway is built on the trackbed of an old standard gauge branch line which connected Mariefred with the main line system at Läggesta. Originally opened in 1895, the branch closed in September 1964.

The whole line from Mariefred to the junction just outside Läggesta station including the station buildings and surrounding area was then donated to the Museum Society “Östra Södermanlands Järnväg” (East Södermanland Railway).

In summer a railway museum is open, and you can see various old locomotives.

Hi Marina,
I like the richness of colours in this photo :) I especially like the brightly sunlit building of the railway station! In combination with the blue sky it adds a little "Swedish" effect LOL
IMHO, I would crop a bit more of the bottom and add a bit more space to the top... but in that case the railway would also be cropped... which is not too good - for the railway :)
so be it :)
I like it, though, that there are shadows on the road: they fill in the empty space and are curious juxtaposition to the light clouds in the sky.
On the whole, a very well composed photo!

Hej Marina,
It looks like we take a huge step back in time here.
Very well composed with a typical old Swedish wooden house, a wide platform and a couple of nice trees. There are also some visible in the background.
Beautiful colors you got here with nice clean (also typical Scandinavian) light.

The train lover in me misses here the nice little steam train your note promises, but I like the composition and the light on this heritage railway station is very nice

It is very colourful shot. Yellow wooden building with bright blue sky create Swedish spirit. Very good composition.

The nice yellow green house contrast very well with the sky and the the composition is great with the railwaytrack leading the eyes to the distance.
Perfect sharpness overall and nice shadows.

You have chosen a good pov and captured the station building to good effect. The bright colours have a strong impact and there is just a hint of the autumn tones appearing in the trees. Good work.

belle vue toute simple de cette charmante ville suédoise. J'aime beaucoup les couleurs de cet immeuble pris dans de très belles lumières.
