Through the Vines Photo

Photographer’s Note

Here at the lakeside village of Ligerz, (or Gléresse in French), the terraced vineyards rise steeply to overlook the calm waters of the Bielersee. On this dazzling November afternoon, I took a walk amongst the vines and admired the stunning vista across the lake, over to St Petersinsel – the peninsula which juts into the lake - and beyond to the distant peaks of the alps.

I did not arrive in Ligerz by accident however. I owe all credit for finding this beautiful setting to Vincent, and to Jean-Yves for suggesting stopping by at this place on a grey October morning en route to our TE meeting in Motiers. See the workshop posting just to compare the scene as we saw it at 8am on a grey morning three weeks earlier. I was very pleased to have the chance to return on such a beautiful day.

Very nice composition and light here. I love the way you captured the church well framed by the vineyards in autumn colour. The lake as background completes the composition.

quel cadre végétal sympatique pour ce joli point de vue sur le lac. le bateau semble avoir ouvert le lac comme une fermeture eclair.

Très jolie vue et compoaision avecl'encadrement de l'image par ce feuillage aux belles couleurs.
Le trait dans l'eau n'apporte a mes yieux pas tellement, mais j'aime bien les alpes à l'arrière plan.

Hallo Susanna,
Wonderful captured landscape. Love those rich and deep autumn colours, and in combination with a much softer background you ended up with a picture who has perfect contrast between different shades of colour...truly wonderul.
Perfect piece of work...very good.

Bon cadrage avec la perspective des rangs de vigne qui nous guide vers le point fort, la petite église, ce panorama dominant le lac est superbe, j'aime moins le sillage du bateau qui me gêne un peu ... enfin juste un détail.

Hi Susanna - the vantage point couldn't be better, I would decrease the overall brightness a little, even if it means the shadows would be darker, however that could also be my monitor, I realise my own photos tend to be on the dark side.

de belles couleurs douces et une église parfaitement encadré par les vignes, très bon cadrage.
J'ai vu le WS... en effet d'autres conditions mais pas dénué de charme.

C'est vrai que les couleurs de la vigne etaient vraiment superbes dimanche dernier, et cela justifie pleinement ce cadrage qui leur fait la part belle en les utilisant comme bordures, bien vu Miss, un endroit a placer sur la liste des lieux a visiter pour l'an prochain ;-)

Hi Susanna,
The resplendence of late autumn is well seen and appreciated here. I like this high angle POV, with the terraced vineyards sweeping away and the autumn leaves framing the foreground and sides of the frame. There is superb depth here and one can almost taste the fresh, clear air. Well captured....later.

très beau point de vue. La composition nous emmène en contre bas, direct. Belle lumière et belles couleurs.
ps; dommage qu'il y a la trace d'un bateau qui vient de passer, ça coupe le clocher.
