My Swiss Century Photo

Photographer’s Note

For my 100th posting from Switzerland I’m returning to this small church in the village of Ligerz on the banks of the Bielersee. On this beautifully calm autumn day, the golden vines radiated in the sunshine.

The land in the middle distance is the St Petersinsel, a peninsula which juts into the lake, home to a nature reserve, while on the horizon the snowy peaks of the alps are just visible.

I walked through the vines and sat on a terrace admiring the view for some while. For an alternative view, see this photo.

Joli 100ème!
Les couleurs sont très jolies et lumineuses. La chaine des Alpes en arrière plan donne beaucoup de profondeur à la photo et le bateau aprochant anime bien la prise de vue.

Susanna the view from up here is quite beautiful. The little church dominate the scenery but the island also draws my attention because it indicates a bit of the size of the lake. Nice colors and sharpness in the picture. Thanks for sharing.

Congratulations Susanna pour your 100th Swiss post. I'm nearly there too, but still missing a few shots before I catch up with you. I guess thta since we can't post nice wintery sceneries from 2007, it's a good idea to settle for a view from autumn 2006. This one is splendid with those golden colored vines leading our eye down to the lake. The church belfry is well placed in the composition and I love the detail of the small boat going towards the bank.

Salut Susanna,
et felicitations pour ton 100eme post de Suisse, ta prochaine epreuve, devenir la 2eme a colorier tous les cantons en jaune ;-)
Elle a ete tres productive ta petite escapade a Ligerz autour de l'eglise a Bourrut, ces magnifiques couleurs d'automne nous ramenent un peu en arriere, le PdV sur le lac est superbe et surtout mention speciale pour le beateau en plein virage.

This is a beautiful image, where most things are just right!
The angle of light for one thing, the beautiful vines and the lead-in to the church is another...
The point of view is well chosen, and the haze adds a lovely feeling of depth to a perfect composition!

Bonjour Susanna,

Quel point de vue ! C'est magnifique. Une relief extraordinaire créé par le contraste entre le premier plan bien net et le second plan sous une légère brume. Belle gestion de la lumière et les couleurs automnales de le vigne sont très belles. J'aime beaucoup les risées sur le lac formées par le hors bord. Très agréables tons pastel du ciel avec la chaîne des alpes. Très jolie photo, bravo pour cette 100ième Susanna.

What wonderfully peaceful place (amd with a view). I like the fall colours in the vines and the slightly hazy light. Keep the next 100 coming ;-)

A lovely light enhances this special composition with the several elements well combined in order to catch the eye and make it attractive. The light highlights the autumn colours of the vineyards descending down to the church in front of this nice lake. The boat adds dynamism whereas the clouds at the horizon grants for a good depth. Great point of view.

Well done on 100 photos of Switzerland.
I like you pov looking down the vines to the church. THe little boat is so perfectly placed in the curve. The ripples on the lake make it look so peaceful.

Hi Susanna. Congratulations on your 100th photo from Switzerland - it is a real beauty and makes me wonder why you have been hiding it for so long. A lovely mood created by the sun that brings forward a golden tonality in the foreground vines, and a nice placement of the church as an off-centered compositional anchor. Another detail that I like is the arriving white boat and the curving trail of rippled water behind it. Nice photo.

The use of wide angle and the very mild pastel colors are great. I really have to come in Switzerland more often :o)

une Suisse qui m'aura émerveillé et séduit, j'espère y retourner un jour, on ne se lasse pas de ses beautés.
Un POV exceptionnel, en altitude, on voit bien ce lac, les vignobles colorés, mais aussi les hautes montagnes.
J'aime beaucoup les lumières ici.

Olá Susanna, the place is gorgeous and the view is amazing and it seems great for a long series, imh. You have the yellow vines, the church and the lake. The composition is excellent and everythiong seems perfect here. The other one is also a wonderful alternative. Congratulations for this 100th post of Switzerland!

Parcourir ta galerie reste un vrai plaisir, choisir un cliché en devient problématique tant ils sont tous plaisants.
celui-ci, alors pour cette grande douceur dans la lumiere, la quietude qu'il dégage et l'esthétisme de ces rides dans l'eau crées par le passage de ce bateau

c'est une photo merveilleuse que tu nous montres,une superbe réussite!Le point de vue est spectaculaire,et j'adore le contraste entre la vigne orangée et ensoleillée et les douces couleurs de l'arrière plan.La belle église apporte un charme fou à l'ensemble,et j'aime aussi les petites vagues formées par le bateau.Félicitations.
