Photographer’s Note

Following on from my previous posting I couldn’t resist showing another shot from the lakeside village of Ligerz. As you might imagine from this shot, the main attraction of this place is its wine, and the picturesque setting where it is allowed to grow! Twenty different varieties of grape are grown in this area around the Bielersee, with Chasselas (55%) and Pinot Noir (34%) being the most abundant.

Having wandered amongst the golden vines, now mostly empty of fruit, this is one of the views I enjoyed. The small railway line is a funicular which runs up the steep hill between the vines.
