Photographer’s Note
Back to Fribourg ..
I've checked out all the possible ever posted photos on TE and found out that so far no photos of Fribourg's Hôtel de Ville (Town Hall) from this POV have been posted.
I have many photos of the Town Hall, but I will post only a few.
Sometimes it's better to take just a few photos so that later you won't be tortured by the thought: which photo to choose? is it really good and worth posting? and so on... many of you are very familiar with these thoughts!
When we came to the Town Hall the sun was hidden behind grey clouds, but I decided to take photos in any case; and while I was taking photos the sun suddenly appeared and lit up everything around, which made the place look like a little fairy-tale.
In the Workshop you will see a photo taken at a "sunless" moment :) so you can compare the effect...
Also, here is just a brief info about the Town Hall which you can, probably, find in Notes to some other TE members' photos of Fribourg.
Hôtel de Ville (Town Hall) dates back to 1501–1522, its double exterior staircase was added in 1663 (see a photo in Workshop).
On the right in this photo: St George spears the dragon on a fountain statue dating from 1525 in the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville square in front of the Town Hall.

Hello Elena,
An interesting building. The tree frames it nicely to the right and balances the composition. The colours are nice and soft, almost pastel-like, but I wouldn't have objected if you had saturated them a little bit further.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Elena.
I've done that - searched in TE to see if there are any photos of something that I want to upload, mainly to see if there are any identical ones! There are only so many viewpoints, aren't there.
I also can relate to your comment about having only a couple of photos so that you won't be tortured by choice later!
Anyway, you timed the shot well to catch the sunlight and retained good detail in the shaded area. That tree breaks up the man-made environment nicely, and I'm glad you captured a couple of people in this one. Maybe it's a pity there weren't one or two walking in the sunlit space right in front of you, to the left of the fountain of St George. But you can't always have everything, and you got the sun and a nice sky above. The hotel de ville is itself an interesting looking building.

Andrew

Hi Elena,
Very interesting and pleasant cityscape! The addition of some minuscule red details doesn´t hurt either. The WS is also very good, you could have used it as a separate upload. On my screen, the saturation looks good enough...
Kind regards

dear Elena,
it is a summer scene, the air makes me feel ennui under the summer sun.
of course, sun light makes sun shined view, and cloud makes another cloudy view,
both shows us different tastes of same objective view, and both are charming.
anyway this blue sky, green tree and constructions are lighted by rather strong sun ray, and whole dry view looks like in the Mediterranean Sea region.
and this town hall looks build in Greek style, especially columns are so.
thank you for your excellent shot,
Akihisa

Hello Elena,
Thank you for this exclusive photograph made with the chance to have had light at the convenient period. Good framing inspired, which combines architecture with a little vegetation. Good description of architecture and excellent realization. The ws is nevertheless very interesting.
Have a nice day.

Hello Elena
You caught the Town Hall at a good moment with a dramatic sky - I guess the polariser helped. Also having a couple of people always adds interest. Sharp throughout. Tfs, Marlene

Hello Elena,
Your thoughts about photographs strike a cord in my mind, too: which angle, how many, closeup or wide angle, etc.
I like this view where the architecture is nicely balanced by the tall tree. There is an interesting mixture of classical and 'everyday' styles.
I bet you were pleased by the appearance of the person with the bright red shirt! The people add a lot to the vitality of the shot.
It must have been so pleasing when the sun appeared as the light is perfect and the shadows on the left help to give texture and detail to the cobbled square.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hello Elena,
I'm again trying to catch up in my critiquing after a short absence. This is a nice balanced composition of the town hall and the square in front of it. Excellent control of light and the colours are beautiful and clear. Many interesting details, from the architecture of the town hall to the background house tops. Perfect sharpness as well. TFS!
Greetings from now sunny Espoo,
Lasse
