Photographer’s Note

Back to Fribourg ..

I've checked out all the possible ever posted photos on TE and found out that so far no photos of Fribourg's Hôtel de Ville (Town Hall) from this POV have been posted.
I have many photos of the Town Hall, but I will post only a few.

Sometimes it's better to take just a few photos so that later you won't be tortured by the thought: which photo to choose? is it really good and worth posting? and so on... many of you are very familiar with these thoughts!

When we came to the Town Hall the sun was hidden behind grey clouds, but I decided to take photos in any case; and while I was taking photos the sun suddenly appeared and lit up everything around, which made the place look like a little fairy-tale.

In the Workshop you will see a photo taken at a "sunless" moment :) so you can compare the effect...

Also, here is just a brief info about the Town Hall which you can, probably, find in Notes to some other TE members' photos of Fribourg.

Hôtel de Ville (Town Hall) dates back to 1501–1522, its double exterior staircase was added in 1663 (see a photo in Workshop).

On the right in this photo: St George spears the dragon on a fountain statue dating from 1525 in the Place de l’Hôtel de Ville square in front of the Town Hall.
