Photographer’s Note
Switzerland again - this time a photo taken in Fribourg.
Like all the previous times, this photo was posted as a result of drawing lots: one shot chosen of many photos which I think of posting.. Most probably, the same "method of choice" will be applied to all the future photos :)
Probably many of you already recognize the bridge in the background: this is Pont de Zaehringen over the River Sarine as seen from Pont de Berne.
This time no long speeches from me :)
Just some info about the bridge:
Pont de Zaehringen - the current arch double deck road bridge, constructed in 1924, replaced the old gravity-anchored suspension bridge which was constructed in 1832-1834 and demolished in 1923.
When I came to Fribourg and walked about it a little, I asked myself: if I suddenly got a chance, where would I like to spend the rest of my life - Fribourg, Luzern or Stockholm?
.....
Would I have to draw lots, too, - like I do when I decide which photo to post next? LOL
Oh no!
Why did I include the photo in the category "Daily Life", too? Just because... because for the people who live there THIS is part of their daily life, too. They can see it every day at any time of the day, they can sit on a bench, eat in a restaurant, walk along the river bank... even go fishing!
Do they appreciate dearly what they have and see every day? This is the question which I often ask myself when I travel.
In the Workshop: another variant which I thought to post as the main one but then changed my mind. Would you prefer the WS variant?

Hi Elena,
A well composed picture and a very interesting scene of "daily life" in this part of the world. The included human presence in not very prominent but has a certain importance. The tree is well placed and the diagonal line of the river is excellent. A beautiful bridge and interesting buildings on the other side, the WS maybe gives a better idea of the castle here. But I think this version is better than the WS, unless you planned to make a Large picture instead.
Kind regards
Gunnar

Good morning Elena
You are right. Of course you can include this photo in that category. After all,the scene makes part of the daily life of the people.
Here in my region we have to live side by side with muggers and violence. We always are afraid to go out in the night, so I think that the people from there must value the secure way of life.
Excellent note and picture. Congratulations

Ah Friburg!
I've been once there myself, a day I was spending a fine holidays in the nearby mountains, long ago... I must have some slides of it buried somewhere in my home...
This corner of the towns brings back lovely memories of a relaxed country. The composition is quite fine and with a good sense of perspective. If I may suggest it, I'd like to see it with a bit more midtones contrast.
Best regards,
Donato

Hello Elena,
This is a very pleasant view of an obviously very nice and interesting town. The bridge is certainly elegant, the trees shade part of the river very nicely and there are some fine buildings on the right side. But still what I like most are those tiny people on the bench who provided the title, and the man walking in the street behind them. Local people living their daily life in no hurry on a fairly sunny day in July.
Kind regards,
Gert

dear Elena,
maybe sitting ladies see the tree "beside and in" the river right before their eyes, it might be great and wonderful.
in my feeling, its natural figure makes this interesting and beautiful contrast with back arch bridge.
obviously this style of the bridge was designed by new architects based on the old Roman bridge, it matches well surroundings,
and these tree, river, bridge and houses are making settled and cheerful view and air, those really compose one concert of sight.
thank you,
Akihisa

Hi Elena,
Good pov to show the broad river with including houses at both sides, the bridge on the clean river is vision attraction, lively and relaxing to see some people sitting and chatting beside the river, thanks for sharing a beautiful city.
Thought you have too many photos awaiting for upload, so that it is hard for make decision. Sometimes I also faced with this situation.
Have a nice day.

Hi Elena,
Cosy old town with river running through. And the gridge connecting halves. I of course wish there was traffic there. Exposure is rather bright, I'm actually surprised that polarizer doesn't seem to have much effect. WS version has a lot of nice details on the right and the other bridge gives natural framing there.

Hello Elena
A domineering bridge and for any visitor a bridge which they won't forget quickly. But as you say do the locals appreciate it? We can become desensitised to the beauty around us in our daily lives - the grass is always greener on the other side. Tfs, Marlene

Hi Elena!
Although the sky's a bit overexposed, that does not really bother me and I think all the rest: sharpness, exposure, depth of field, pov and, above all, the composition are all excellent! I love the architectural details (bridge, buildings), the way you placed the river in the frame! The big trees on the left! Those people sat by the river! Everything!
TFS - congratulations!
My warmest regards,
Neyvan

Elena
As I notice the Sarine`s river is a very streamy one. The water seems moving. At the left side where people rest the path a little narrowed must onwards be a nice attractive wooden land to go along the bank. If this is a big city I guess the center of it is up to the left side. I think and say it is because the white huge building next to the bridge can be the edge of the city. All the countryside and house style keep a genuine nature. Warm regards. Tomi
