Photographer’s Note

This photo was taken solely for the sake of the trolley bus. I don't know why but I liked very much the colourful buses of Fribourg - they created a joyful feeling in me, so I took photos of them whenever I saw them in the streets :)

My aim was to capture a bit of local daily life which flows, surrounded by famous objects which so many take simply for granted...

In the background: Saint Nicholas Cathedral. You can see another photo of it here.

The trolleybus driver saw me taking a photo, so he even smiled looking at me (in the workshop: a closeup cropped version) :) Maybe he thought I looked funny taking photos of a bus? Who knows?... :)

LOL could well be, a well exposed streeet action image, probably you had not much time but changing a little bit your pov would have allowed to detach the cathedral from the roof

HI Elena,
A fine street scene, a good combination of old architecture and this modern bus (but I can´t read the license number here...). The yellow pedestrian crossing becomes a part of the red (and blue) bus to form the central eye-catching part of the picture!

Hello Elena,
Who wouldn't feel joy when a large, red element comes running along the street towards you? Or maybe your joy was due to the fact that a trolleybus doesn't spew out stinking and dangerous exhaust fumes.
Whatever the explanation, this is a bright and appealing picture where the blue truck in the background is nicely reflected in the windows of the bus. And the red car can also be seen in a window across the street. You certainly made maximum use of the coloured spots.
And the cathedral looks fine too.

dear Elena,
the trolley bus does not need rails, and does not consume oil.
in my thinking, people must use more and more this kind of vehicles.
anyway, in this old street with old church and old houses, the red bus looks too vivid, and the blue truck too...
it is good or bad, I don't know, but actually one modern scene of old town.
this shot shows us that realistic life sight very well.

Äîáðûé âå÷åð, Åëåíà, åùå ðàç,
Ìèëàÿ êàðòèíêà. Âðîäå è ó íàñ äîìà ñòîÿò è òðîëëåéáóñû õîäþòü. Íî âîò áëèæå ìíå òàêèå ïåéçàæè. Âïðî÷åì, ìû óæå ýòî îáñóæäàëè ñ âàìè.

Hi Elena,

Very often we try to avoid cars and buses when photographing old cites and buildings but here you do the other way round. And would say that the result is excellent. Everyone could see the bus adds colour to the scene and makes it much more attractive that it would have been with a empty street. An excellent photo-job. TFS and have a nice Sunday evening!

I love those pictures where you really don't present any post card of the city, but a real daily life scene!
When traveling I'm crazy for such details and enjoy a lot walking along the streets and seeing all that going on! I use the subway, the buses and so forth!
Sharpness, exposure, dof and colors are excellent!
The pov couldn't be better and the composition is effective and attractive!

Good straightforward angle to modern trolleybus coming on a curve. Well chocen viewpoint also considering that tower in the background.
