Photographer’s Note

Lorsque le soleil se voile, le lac devient gris et les montagnes sont noires.
Il n'y a plus rien à faire qu'à attendre la lumière.
Lorsque le ciel se déchire, une lumière subtile tombe dans l'eau.
Le lac scintille de reflets métalliques.
Les ombres prennent le contraste.
On peut enfin composer une image.

When the sun is veiled, the lake becomes gray and the mountains are black.
There is nothing any more to make but await the light.
When the sky tears, a subtle light falls into water. The lake scintillates of metal reflections.
The shades take contrast.
One can finally compose an image.

The filtering light look very nice. It add to the mood of the scene. Very nice place and well composed picture. I like the background mountains and the nice balance of elements. The sharpness is very good and the silhouettes of the forest add to the visual appeal of the view. Thanks Bertrand :-)

Bonjour,
C'est une pluie de soleil du plus bel effet! Cette lumière donne beaucoup de relief à l'image. Beaucoup de contraste aussi avec le contre-jour qui assombri l'ilot de vegetation sur la droite.
vraiment c'est superbe!

Belle photographie de paysage ... je trouve cependant gênant les reflets sur le pic pour moi pas assez marqué ... et cela me gêne ... rien à redire sur la compo de l'image ... mais je suis pas un pro, donc je dis peut-être une bêtise ... car c'est justement cela que tu à voulu nous montrer ...

Une vue tout en douceur ! La nappe de brume donne un air très particulier à ce sommet dont on ne voit presque que l'ombre chinoise ! Je trouve que le cadrage ainsi que les arbres en bas à droite donnent un aspect presque exotique à ce vue pourtant bien romande !

Like a curtain over the landscape. Very nice light and i like the monotone colours. Gives a very special atmosphere. It does not always have to be the other side of the world, also "nearby" can have wonderfull jewels ;)

perhaps it's easy to take a shot of a beautiful landscape for a nice composition, but to get the light as you did here is another step. Great light management. I really like those sunlight rays, the silhouettes on the right and that imponent mountain on the background. Well done!

La lumière me semble assez diffuse ici, peut-être que les contrastes ne sont pas assez marqués, mais c'est toi qui a vu cette scène et non moi, donc je ne m'étendrai pas plus. En tout cas cet endroit est magnifique.

I remember seeing a lot of light like this in the Alps--tough to capture, but you've done it really well! I like the silhouetted foreground which sets off the background. The lake is indeed very metallic. Beautiful! Regards, Ken.

tu nous as trouvé un coin tranquille pour faire cette photo aux lumières fantastiques. Il est rare de voir apparaitre ces montagnes en ombres.
J'aime beaucoip la lumière dans cette photo qui vient du lac et non du ciel.

Very nice shot with these light rays falling over the village and lake just in front of the mountain! It captures perfectly the atmosphere of the moment. Good composition with the dark forest on the right.

BUT, I hesitate writing it, I think you're wrong about the location. I hesitate because many Swiss people have already written a critique, and no one has mentioned it. And also because I'm not an expert on the Lac Léman region. But nevertheless I'm pretty sure that this mountain is not located in Vaud, and this is not Lac Léman. I think it's the Niesen and the Thunersee in Berner Oberland.
When you look at this picture, and especially at the peaks behind the Niesen you see that they exactly match. Furthermore, when you look at this picture, you see that the forest and the village also match exactly. I've been on holiday many times in Aeschiried, a small village near the Niesen, and I recognized the landscape immediately.
I hope I've convinced you with these images, otherwise I can look for more ;-)

j'aime bien cette composition nous montrant les teintes bleuâtres des montagnes du fond mais aussi le noir de cet arbre au bord du lac. Et il tombe justement sur les reflections. Les faisceaux lumineux sont encore un PLUS. sur cette belle image.

la lumière du soleil qui se cache derrière les montagnes nous offre quelques jolis rayons qui décorent l'image et font briller le lac avec des tons argentés. Le ciel, magnifique.
Un grand contraste enre les deux bords du lac, avec la silhouette dans le premier plan et la jolie gamme de gris dans l'arrière-plan.
J'aime la lumière et les tons sur cette photo splendide, très bien réalisée.

Bertrand, tu as su attendre la belle lumière du lac pour en faire une très belle photo. J'aime ces tons d'argent que l'eau prend sous le soleil qui perce à travers les nuages. Les rayons de ce même soleil dessinent des rais, visibles sur le fond sombre de la montagne.
