Photographer’s Note

En anticipant ma première rencontre avec une vache suisse, je me sentais plutôt intimidé puisque ces bovins possèdent un statut de célébrité sur TE, au même titre que les Tom Cruise et les Sarkozy que l'on voit apparaître sur les couvertures du Paris-Match.

La seule différence entre les vedettes du Valais et ceux d'Hollywood, c'est que les premières n'ont pas de garde du corps.

Hello Andre,

Your mastery of aperture has resulted in a very sharp subject and selectively blurred surroundings. The effect is very special and has worked perfectly in this instance. There are times where detail in the whole scene is needed, but sometimes there is more of an impact when this type of shot is attempted. There is defiantly a lot of depth shown in this image which in turn almost makes the subject appear 3D. My Swiss friend has a bullhorn which he sometimes brings to parties to startle guests with, and here I can see where he got it from! I like how you have incorporated two Swiss icons; the mountains and the livestock in the one scene so clearly. TFS.

Eh bien je vois que tu as trouvé l'auteur du sujet du post de Brigitte !
Tu as mené une enquête longue et fastidieuse afin de retrouver la coupable ? ;-)
Au même titre qu'une star d'Hollywood, cette belle reine des Alpes est saisie sous son plus beau jour avec une lumière et une profondeur de champ bien pensées !

bonjour Andre, ici tu as profite d une tres belle lumiere, cette vache semble si imposante ainsi au premier plan, il ne manque plus que le nom de milka sur son flanc.... tres bel arriere plan avec la montagne

Excellent portrait. Good to see the background blur to bring focus to your main subject yet still revealing his high alpine pasture. I like the colors & light. Voilà que tu dévoiles la source de mon 500e!
Je ne sais pas ce que tu lui a dit (ou fait) avant de prendre la photo, mais je trouve que cette pauvre vache à l'air plutôt craintive face à ton objectif. Comme d'habitude tu fais preuve d'une remarquable technique en utilisant une grande ouverture qui a permis d'obtenir ces flous d'avant et d'arrière plan qui font apparaitre le sujet en 3D.
On peut dire que tu es un maître du Beau-Cow! ;o))

Et bien, toi qui d'habitude arrive à faire sourire tous les sujets que tu prends en portrait... il semblerait que ton charme n'agisse pas sur la gente bovine... quel dommage, un joli sourire, ou même une langue sortie aurait été du plus bel effet.
Qu'importe, ta photo est superbement colorée, et comme le dit Brigitte on dirait vraiment qu'elle est en 3D... allez avoue, c'est un décalco que t'as rajouté... toi aussi tu avais une boulette de viande sur ta lentille?
Bravo, pour peu que tu adoptes les couettes, Heidi n'a qu'à bien se tenir.

En cherchant un peu, il y a bien d'autres différences je pense:-))En tous cas, elle semble bien dans sa peau!!
Une très jolie photo avec l'arrière plan flou qui met parfaitement le sujet en valeur.
De très jolies couleurs et un commentaire amusant.

Andre,
Nice portrait shot placing the cow in crisp focus while blurring the background. The subject in sharp focus draws the eye to the cow and makes the background just a backdrop. The lighting and colors are great as well.

Très réactif, André! Suite à la publication de Brigitte, tu nous montre l'auteure (comme on dit maintenant) du méfait qui semble d'ailleurs toute penaude (ou intriguée par l'allure de ce cousin venu du froid,). Tu en as tiré une très belle image en tout cas qui devrait faire la une du Pari Vache local.

The quintessential Swiss image, Andre - a cow in a mountain pasture with snow-covered peaks behind. If you through in a watch, a banker and a bar of chocolate, you'd have it all covered. But seriously - great composition, with vibrant colors and a great out-of-focus background of the mountains.

It is a beautiful stamp bucolic, filled with much naturalness, despite being in a vertical format.

I like the tones and the contrast offered by the main element, compared to the rest of the scene out of focus, detailing the importance of protagonist. Well done.

jolie "bouse-maker" comme tu les nommes dans ton commentaire à Brigitte. Une belle maitrise du sujet avec cette netteté bien ciblée. La contre plongée donne aussi un bel effet avec les montagne derrière qui domine tout de même la "bouse-maker".

What a divine bovine! I like how you have placed the animal at the bottom of the vertical frame below the snowy mountain peak, giving us a good idea of the surroundings. Good use of depth of field and the colours are nice and natural. I especially like the bell.
