Photographer’s Note
Fortunately there is a good tradition of organizing expositions of sculptures made of sand (in summers) or ice (in winters) each year at the Kharkiv’s biggest square. I posted one of my shots of 2008 sand show (see "Sand-art Storm" TE picture) a year ago. Then the theme of the exposition was "Fairy-tale Personages". This year it was "World’s Architecture".
I came to the place, when preparations for the exposition opening were under way. Due to that in the picture you can see how Egyptian Pyramids were built by Egyptians. One of them is holding the main tool of those times, a wooden plugger. His clothes are minimal and very typical for poor people in Ancient Egypt, a burnous on his head and ragged pants on his hips.
This shot is the first contribution in the small theme "Egyptian Pyramids out of Egypt" (see the 2nd and 3rd ones).

Hello Sergiy,
A Pharaonic building site !!! I am always fascinated by the talent of these sand sculptors. We also have in Brittany, in Saint-Quay-Portrieux, every year in July this kind of manifestation… but taking my holidays in August… not photographs !!! Beautiful and luminous photograph where I appreciate the good clearness of the image. Well done Sergiy.
With all my friendships and a very good week,

Hello Sergiy,
A very astonishing shot with the Egypt edifice in the FG and the modern edifice in the BG. Excellent!
A nice shot too with a great prospect, details, contrats and colors well collected. The workmen give an interesting human element to the image.
Have a nice day,
Roger

Hi Sergiy,
This composition is interesting due to the strong contrast between the buildings and the sand sculptures, in an urban scene enough atypical.
The old Egyptian architecture in competition with the contemporary architecture, I like the result of the photo, its light and its graphism.
Nice work.
Best regards,
Josep

Hello Sergiy,
Contrast is strong between the modern architecture, vertical and perennial, but dull, and the sand sculptures to the curved or tilted lines, so fragile and inspired. Very beautiful image of quality under an adequate light. Congratulations.
Have a nice day

Hi Sergiy. You've captured a nice scene with the artists still doing their work. The light was strong but you manages it very well. Nice colors and a good perspective. We too have this kind of thing in Portugal; two years ago I visited the International Sand Sculpture Festival (FIESA) in Algarve; The theme was "The Wonders of the World" and also the portuguese ones. Here's a link to it (half of them are mine and maybe I'll post some in TE one day) and hope you enjoy it.BEst regards. Paulo

Hi Sergiy,
Looks like a fun thing to do, sand sculpting. Beautiful shot of the sculpting in progress. We can see it nearly completed. It is a much better rendition than the one in Las Vegas I must say. Beautiful day with lovely clouds and nice blue sky. Good quality shot. thanks Sergyi. It is a joy to look at.

Hi Sergiy,
Good representation of sand carvings. The Egyptian pyramids are nicely detailed, and I wish to see more of the sphinx in the background.
Sand sculpting is very popular along the California coast. Sacramento even trucks in sand for sculpting in the mall and the State Fair.
thanks for sharing,
Ray

Hi Sergiy,
Before I started following your work on TE, my vague ideas about the Ukraine linked it to Siberia. Now I see these very sophisticated sand sculptures set against a high rise background. ...and it's all captured with excellent sharpness and perfect light management and accompanied by yet another fascinating note.

Hi Sergiy,
A very amusing scene. Very nice sand sculptures but a the same time not much room for them. It sort of looks really packed pyramids here and in the middle of it one of the scultors is climbing around. A superb capture. TFS and have nice Sunday!
Cheers,
Ulf

Hello Sergiy, These artists are amazing, they do a terrific job & it only lasts such a short time. So the Pharaohs have come to Kharkiv, extraordinary ;-).
Interesting & good quality image, excellent natural colour & clarity. The guy in the front looks like he has just taken part in a Harrison Ford movie. Well done

sergiy
nice view showing the men working in the sand. Nice light, sharpness and colors. I guess it would be better if we could see the whole face of that sphinx. anyway I think you were interested in the show the work itself.nice job
