Church of Soldier’s Glory Photo

Photographer’s Note

This church is consecrated to soldiers perished in local wars, in particular in Chechnya. It was inaugurated on 23 Aug. 2008, when 65th anniversary on liberation of Kharkiv from Nazi occupation was celebrated.

The construction working took 9 months. The crosses were made in the West Ukraine, while the bells were cast in Donetsk. The height of the church is 26 m. It can house 250 parishioners. A separate belfry is to be built in near feature. Also it is planed to add more wall paintings.

This is a very special and quite different architecture than what I am used to see. This ornamented church is very beautiful and you have placed it very good inside the frame. Its colour against the deep blue sky is also very good. The little detail with some persons on a red bench is excellent!

This asymmetric framing is very effective to offer us the beauty of this church and all the details of its magnificent architecture.
The trees and the people in a bench of the gardens, are a few good elements that balance the image.

The pastel colours go perfectly well with the deep blue sky and the dark green of the vegetation!
Still amazing to see so many new churches being built nowadays!
I didn't realise that Ukraine had to participate in the Chechnya war! Wars are so horrifying, all to do with men wanting power!

Ce monument aux morts est très lumineux sous le soleil du mois de mai. J'aime le graphisme de l'architecture, les couleurs et les promeneurs qui semblent profiter de la paix retrouvée grâce à ceux qui se sont battus.
